NBA Best Bets for Today: It Ain't Over Til It's Under (Friday, Dec. 8)

NBA Best Bets for today’s action! It Ain’t Over Til It’s Under will highlight one game total and one player prop under for the slate. We won’t cash until the final horn sounds, but we’ll be cashing often.
Chicago Bulls vs. San Antonio Spurs First Half Under 111 (-112 on FanDuel)

Fading the slowest starter in the league once again, along with a sputtering offense.
Chicago has the worst first half offense by a pretty wide margin, averaging 3 fewer points per game than 29th place (Detroit). The Bulls are dead last in first half offensive rating. They play at the slowest pace overall, and they’re even slower in first halves. Chicago tends to get it going in the second half, ranking 10th in offensive rating, but those first two quarters are an absolute slog.
San Antonio also struggles on offense, but at least they do it quickly. The Spurs are 20th in scoring and 24th in offensive rating in the first half, but they’re 3rd in pace. Over the last 10 games, San Antonio is actually 2nd in pace overall, but they’ve tumbled to dead last in offensive rating.
The Spurs could drag the Bulls into a slightly faster game than usual, but these offenses are too limited to take advantage of it.
Andrew Wiggins Under 19.5 PRA (-125 on BetMGM)

Wiggins has had some spike games, but he’s largely disappointed this season, He’s declined in every area, posting career-lows in points, shots, assists and minutes per game. Wiggins’ shooting rates (FG%, 3P%, FT%) and rebounding numbers are the worst they’ve been in his Golden State tenure. He’s down to 8.4 rebound chances per game, his lowest mark with the Warriors and behind four teammates (Looney, Saric, Curry, Green).
Oklahoma City is 3rd in defensive rating and 9th in points allowed per game. They’ve been even tougher lately, ranking 1st in defensive rating over the past 10 games. The Thunder have allowed the 3rd-fewest points and the fewest assists to small forwards.
PRA bets can often boil down to whether a guy is doing stuff or not doing stuff. Wiggins just isn’t doing stuff this season, and OKC isn’t permitting much stuff. Shoutout to my journalism degree for that eloquent #analysis.
