NBA Betting Picks for Wednesday, December 4: Sacramento at Portland

So far, both teams have been a pretty big disappointment. The Blazers were one of the better teams in the league last season after making a nice run in the playoffs, but this season they have been one of the worst teams in the league, currently sitting at 11th in the Western Conference with an 8-13 record. The Kings came into this season with a young team filled with potential. They barely missed the playoffs in 2019 and if the season were to end today they’d be on the outside looking in again. They currently sit at 9th in the Western Conference with a record of 8-11.

Looking at the Kings you’ll notice they’ve changed their style of play drastically. In the 2018-2019 the Kings were near the top of the league in pace and this season no team has slowed things down more than the Kings as they sit at dead last in the league in terms of pace. Additionally, the Kings have been lackluster offensively and defensively, currently sitting at 19th in defensive efficiency and 21st in offensive efficiency. The Kings come into this game at mostly full strength outside of Fox who has missed an extended amount of time.

Looking at the Trail Blazers, they been one of the faster teams (9th in pace). They have been a slightly above average offensive team while being a slightly below-average defensive team this season, which is surprising. On the offensive end they have a bunch of pieces that should put them closer to the top of the league with McCollum in Lillard and some decent role players who contribute, but one the defensive end they are probably much worse than their numbers appear as they have added Carmelo Anthony and are giving Whiteside a decent amount of minutes on the floor, both of which are not great defenders. Overall, the Trailblazers are the type of team that should give up a boatload of points in most matchups.

My NBA Betting Pick: The Under 217.5 (-110)

While a lot of people expect this game to be a high scoring affair with the majority of the bets coming in on the over, I don’t believe this to be the case. People still think they Kings push the ball more than they do. As stated earlier, the Kings sit at dead last in pace of play and they have been one of the worst teams in the league at covering the over this season sitting at 6-13 overall and have been even worse on the road with a record of 2-8. This is a perfect spot to hit the under as the Blazers are on the second end of a back to back and will likely not mind a slower game themselves.

Risking 1 unit to win .91 units on Under 217.5.

NBA 2019-2010 Betting Record: 4-0 (+3.68 units)

NBA Betting Picks for Today — Player Props

Buddy Hield Under 23.5 Points (-110) – While Buddy is a fantastic scorer and has seen his usage and minutes increase since Fox has been out, he really hasn’t been great in most of those games. This may be due to bad shooting nights, but he has failed to hit 24 points in 5 of his last 7 games. While the Over is certainly within the range of outcomes, I prefer to take the Under.
