NBA Odds & Betting Picks for Today: New York Knicks at San Antonio Spurs
The New York Knicks are 1-point road favorites and the point total is 215 at online sports betting sites. Here’s a look at NBA odds and betting picks for today, Tuesday, March 6, 2021.
NBA Betting Picks for Today: Knicks at Spurs
On the season, the Knicks are sitting 4th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 18-17 and are 7-3 in their last 10 games. They currently rank 3rd in defensive efficiency and last in the NBA in terms of pace. The Spurs are 17-13 on the season, going 6-4 in their last 10 games. They currently rank 13th in both defensive efficiency and 13th in pace.
Looking at the overall trends so far, the San Antonio Spurs have been a very different team when playing at home this season than they were last year. For a glimpse of what I’m talking about, look at their home splits for the respective seasons: right now, they’re 8-9 straight up and against the spread, whereas they were 19-15 straight up and 10-20 against the spread last year.
Additionally, the Spurs have really struggled this season on the second end of a back-to-back, going 1-3 ATS in said circumstances. As for the New York Knicks, though I can’t understand a single thing they are doing with this roster, they have somehow managed to find themselves right in the thick of things. Shockingly, the Knicks have been fantastic over their last 10 games and now are in the playoff hunt. Seriously — I know I pointed it out at the beginning of the article, but the Knicks are FOURTH in the Eastern Conference. Who would have thought? After all, this is the same organization that has made the playoffs only three times in the last 16 seasons and hasn’t earned a playoff berth since 2013.
What really piques my interest in this game—which tends to be the case in most games that involve the Knicks—is the point total (or Over/Under). This season, no team has allowed fewer points per game than the Knicks, who are holding teams to 104 ppg. The Spurs are middle of the pack, allowing 111.7 ppg. This sets up perfectly for what should be a slow-paced, low-scoring affair between the two teams.
On the season, Knicks games are going Over at the lowest rate in the NBA. The over is merely 12-23 in Knicks games, while the Spurs have hit the Over at a 43% clip, going 13-17. Add in the situational numbers and the Knicks are 4-14 on the road the Spurs are 1-3 on the second end of a back-to-back. With the total sitting at 215 and the average points given up by these teams sitting right around 215, I think this is a great opportunity to hammer that Under.

NBA DFS Tips
Looking at this game and assuming that it will be a low scoring affair, we shouldn’t expect this game to have a ton of value from a DFS perspective, but with Elf Payton listed as Doubtful and the Spurs without LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Gay, Derrick White, Devin Vassell, and possibly without Keldon Johnson, we might actually be able to find some value here for the NBA DFS slate. Derrick Rose has been outstanding without Payton in the offense and has been getting a boatload of minutes over the previous few games. He is still underpriced on both FanDuel and DraftKings and is a fantastic play over on Superdraft as a 1.7x multiplier. On the Spurs side, wait to see what starting lineup they end up rolling out, but over on Superdraft regardless we could see a lot of minutes for Jakob Poeltl, who matches up nicely vs Nerlen Noel and could see a boost in minutes and usage for Lonnie Walker.
Basketball Odds Boost of the Day
If you live in a regulated state, I’ve decided to give out my favorite odds boost every day I write this article and a little summary of why I like the Boost. My favorite odds boost today is over on Draftkings where Texas & Arkansas & Purdue NCAAB all to win. The bet has been boosted from +172 to +210 which is more than enough to cover all the juice built into these money lines.
