NBA DFS Core Plays: Monday, November 1st

Andy Means will be bringing Premium subscribers his top daily fantasy basketball cash game plays and tournament pivots to build around. A former Duke basketball walk-on and now full-time DFS player, Andy will take an in-depth look into each of his core plays, and then blend it all together from a roster construction perspective. On weekends, Allan Lem takes the reigns.

Tuesday, October 19th

It is imperative that you read the following bullet points before proceeding so you know what I am trying to accomplish with this article, as well as how it will intertwine with some other things we offer here at RotoGrinders (e.g. LineupHQ, Crunch Time).

1. This is a cash game article. These are the players that I think you absolutely must have in your cash game lineup on that day’s main slate. Obviously, these plays aren’t going to work out 100% of the time. But I believe that starting your builds with these players on each slate is a recipe for profitability over the long run.

2. These plays are prioritized. The first player is the most important (i.e., the first player you should plug into your lineup), the next player is the second most important, etc. You can use this order as an indication of which plays I feel the strongest about in case you disagree with my stance on someone. Depending on the slate, I could provide as few as two players or as many as five or six.

I broached that title name with Cheese, and it’s safe to say that I cannot afford his trademark licensing fees!

I appreciate everyone else’s comments so far! Glad to hear that everyone is digging the new format. I’ll keep tinkering with it each day, and I’m sure we’ll ultimately settle into something that is informative, efficient, and entertaining.

hey man think the format is definetly a step in the right direction. with a single piece of injury news capable of switching up the slate. I feel as though cash games have gotten really competitive when it comes to %‘s which is fair with everyone nowadays running optimzers. A request that may be nice is touching on something you mentioned. like the “ if this players sits then this guy is most likely to get the run “ take scottie barnes today for example. I think that would provide tangible information that could be applied in a slate desperatley in need for value. Just a thought. either way. continue the awesome work.

That is definitely going to be one of my main points of emphasis going forward. Especially considering things are only going to get wilder and wilder the deeper we get into the regular season. The only reason I didn’t touch on it more today was because the article took longer than normal with the change, and I am a little behind on my other content. But yeah, you’ll definitely be getting more of that in future articles!

I think this is great!! .. and thx for also keeping the core tags with notes. ..and big thanks for putting in the time + effort!!

  • founts

I’ll keep reading whatever you throw out there and be ready to change everything 10 minutes before lineups lock!!!

  • Darkstar24

Love the changes – I think if I could give one recommendation (more accurately a request) would be a small blurb on who your tournament pivots are. I always appreciated those in the old format.

    Thanks, Meansy!

Noted! I will try to mix those in every now and then on the Questions & Answers. But remember too that you can always get some of my tournament thoughts every day on the Expert Survey. We have a few short-form answers on those as well as a long-form answer on favorite contrarian play.

    Appreciate the feedback Darkstar24!

My only feedback would be to mention who is Out/Doubtful/Questionable only if they are of a high impact to the slate, and not everybody on the slate. Like how the situation room lists everyone and their importance from 10 to 1. Maybe only list those of the highest impact to cut down on the length of the article.

I was having this exact conversation with someone earlier, and I think I tend to agree with you on this one. On the one hand, it mentally helps me to “eliminate” those players from the slate if I list all of them one by one. On the other hand, you don’t need me telling you every day that Kawhi Leonard is out.

So yeah, I will pare that list down going forward. Thanks for the feedback mistaq7980!

  • Maddyb

    Meansy, new format looks tremendous.
Can I ask are you surprised at all with RG projection on minutes for Osman with both Okoro out and now Love? I would of thought some positional shifting occurs and he garners more than 18 mins especially given CHA size?
    Thoughts?
