Even if you just look at his overall season numbers, Tobias would still be in play here. He is at 0.99 FD points per minute on a 23.2% usage rate, 14.2% assist rate, and 10.8% rebound rate. And as you might expect, everything ticks up a bit when you take Simmons OFF in CourtIQ. In that 420-minute sample, Tobias is up to 1.05 FD points per minute on a 24.2% usage rate, 17.6% assist rate, and 12.9% rebound rate.
And you know what else is going to boost his per-minute production? This matchup against Cleveland. While they may not play as fast (21st in pace) as some of our other favorite matchups to target, they are still a trainwreck defensively. They rank 29th in defensive rating, 28th in overall team defensive efficiency, and 28th in defensive efficiency against small forwards.
As for the minutes, we currently have him projected for 35. I think that is spot-on, as he almost always hits at least that in competitive games. Could you argue there is some blowout risk here? Probably, but at least this is a road game. Even when prior games have gotten out of hand, he is still getting you at least 30 minutes. I think the floor here is extremely safe all things considered, and he will be the first small forward I plug in to cash game lineups on FD.
