Hittin' The Nuts: Squirrelpatrol's NBA Lineup Advice - Tuesday, January 16th

Want to hit the nuts and take down 1st place in these massive contests posted by FanDuel and DraftKings? Who better to walk you through their favorite NBA DFS picks than Squirrelpatrol! Undoubtedly one of the best DFS players in the game today, Squirrelpatrol has accumulated 90+ Live Final seats, won the FanDuel 2021 World Fantasy Basketball Championship for $500,000, and most recently, took down the NFL Milly Maker in Week 2. Should we roster the chalk picks? How off-the-board should we get in large-field tournaments? Squirrel answers all of these questions and more below!
The NBA season continues on Tuesday with a smaller, 3-game slate that tips off at 7:30 PM ET, as the Nuggets travel to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers in a game with a 233 total and Philly favored by 1.5 points.
At 9:00 PM ET, the Kings face the Suns in Phoenix in the game with the highest total of the night (244) and the Suns favored by 4 points.
The last game of the night is at 10:00 PM ET, as the Thunder travel to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers in a game with a 236 total and the Clippers favored by 7 points.
There is stunningly little injury news for this slate, with the only questionable players currently being Danuel House for Philadelphia and Keegan Murray for Sacramento. There are some players that are already listed out that we should account for, however, with Robert Covington and Jaden Springer out for the 76ers, Bol Bol out for the Suns, and Ivica Zubac out for the Clippers.
Let’s sort through it all and figure out what to do with our DFS lineups.
NBA DFS Lineup Advice: Squirrelpatrol’s ‘Hittin’ The Nuts’ (January 16th)
High Flyers
Who are the players I’m picking first for my squad? These guys are the first selections for both my cash game and tournament lineups, and I’ll sacrifice elsewhere, if need be, to ensure I get them in:
Kevin Durant
FanDuel: $9,700
DraftKings: $9,200

Kevin Durant is playing in the game with the highest total, and with the Suns favored by 4.5 points, they are carrying the highest implied team total by more than 3 points. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are showing up as popular forwards, which should keep ownership on Durant down somewhat. If this game exceeds its total, however, Durant could end up as the highest scorer on the night.
DeAaron Fox
FanDuel: $8,700
DraftKings: $9,000

I like the idea of targeting the game with the highest total and a close spread, while most of the value is pointing us towards the other two games. Fox offers savings off of Durant, Domantas Sabonis, and Devin Booker, and unlike Durant and Sabonis, he doesn’t have to compete with the Clippers forwards positionally. I’ll be pairing Fox and Durant in some of my lineups to give them a completely different construction from the field, which could correlate together nicely.
