I don’t know about everyone else, but I had a great NBA slate on Monday night. I hit the lock button on my core plays in LineupHQ and let the NBA DFS optimizer do the rest of the work. I landed on Josh Giddey, who ended up being the difference-maker of the slate. It was one of my better slates of the season, but naturally, I didn’t have much invested since it was only a 4-game slate. I’m certainly not complaining though, as any and all wins are welcome.

For tonight’s slate, there are 11 games on the schedule. Per usual, DraftKings has decided to keep the late games off their main slate, which means they are rolling out an 8-game slate. FanDuel has all 11 games on their main slate, so we have different options on each site. We don’t have any teams playing on the second half of a back-to-back, but we do have six teams playing on the front half of a back-to-back (Pistons, Pacers, Magic, Sixers, Bucks, Clippers).

Team Previews

Philadelphia 76ers (at CHA)

The Sixers will be shorthanded in the frontcourt, as Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond have both been ruled out. We have Guerschon Yabusele (0.93 DK / 0.92 FD) projected to start at center against the Hornets, who are 25th in pace and 13th in points allowed per game this season. Let’s see who benefits the most with Embiid and Drummond off the floor:

Paul George has an elite usage rate (27%) and is priced under $8,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel. He’s my only priority on the Sixers, but I wouldn’t talk anyone out of targeting Yabusele, Tyrese Maxey, or Jared McCain in tournaments.

Charlotte Hornets (vs. PHI)

The Hornets will be without some of their best players, as LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, Tre Mann, and Grant Williams have all been ruled out. Mark Williams could make his season debut, as he is listed as questionable. I don’t want to make the sample size too small, so let’s just look at who benefits the most with Ball and Bridges off the floor:

Brandon Miller sees solid usage, and FP/min boosts with those players off the floor and has scored at least 54 fantasy points in 3 of his last 6 games. He’s one of the top targets on the slate. Tidjane Salaun and Vasilije Micic stand out as strong value plays early in the day.
