What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

tcsmith031: I’m likely to roll with a few single-entry GPPs. I think the Bucks are pretty likely to get their antlers blown off tonight in Detroit, so I’m leaning toward fading a potentially 70%-owned Kevin Porter Jr. on DK. He’s still a great play, but that’s a ton of ownership in a tough matchup. I may soften that stance if more cheap value opens up, which is quite possible with so many teams playing the second half of a back-to-back. I shouldn’t have to go too far off the board with the rest of my lineup if fading KPJ, so I’ll lean into some of the chalkier pieces from teams like the Heat, Hawks, and, unfortunately, the Wizards.

Krayton: I will be playing single-entry and 20-max contests on both sites. As I have been playing around with our SimLabs tool here at RotoGrinders, I am finding some single-digit projected ownership plays that are popping, such as CJ McCollum and Kyle Kuzma. I am looking to mix and match them with some of the chalkier plays that I like, such as Jalen Johnson, Kevin Porter Jr., and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

TJ Zwarych: I’ll be playing 150 lineups in large-field GPPs in addition to a single-entry lineup on top of my MME build. I’ll look to be underweight on a chalky Miami team as well as some of the individual players who are projecting for high ownership, like Evan Mobley and Demar Derozan. However, Jalen Johnson and Kevin Porter Jr. are some chalk pieces I’ll be eating, as they’re two of my favorite plays on the slate.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (Epignosis)

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
