NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Saturday, January 31
Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?
tcsmith031: Joel Embiid
Krayton: Joel Embiid
TJ Zwarych: Joel Embiid
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
tcsmith031: I’ll be playing 20-max GPPs. It’s impossible to get away from playing multiple Bulls in every lineup given their injury situation, and it’ll be interesting to see if the field plays much of the Miami side. With the Heat also missing Tyler Herro, Norman Powell, and Davion Mitchell, they could be a sneaky source of value likely to come at much lower ownership. I like the idea of stacking that game for value while paying up for Joel Embiid, Jalen Johnson, and/or Anthony Edwards.
Krayton: I will be playing mostly single-entry contests and a few 3-max contests. I will absolutely be embracing the cheap Bulls value with Josh Giddey, Coby White, Nikola Vucevic, Tre Jones, and Jalen Smith all out. Patrick Williams and Kevin Huerter have seen the biggest usage bumps (9.4% and 4.5%, respectively) with those players off the court. I will be looking to get 3-4 pieces on FanDuel and 4-5 on DraftKings. I will be looking to get one or two spend-up options in my lineups, with Anthony Edwards, Cooper Flagg, and Joel Embiid being my favorite targets.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll just be playing one lineup in single-entry contests. On a small slate, it’s going to be nearly impossible to avoid the insane value on the Bulls. I’ll pick one of Patrick Williams or Lachlan Olbrich and add at least two of Dalen Terry, Kevin Huerter, and Ayo Dosunmu. Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Anthony Edwards are my favorite spends, with Jalen Johnson joining that group if he plays.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

About the Author
Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
