What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
tcsmith031: I’ll dabble mostly in smaller-field, single-entry GPPs. Even on a slate with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic, I’m finding it to be much easier to roll with a more balanced build. The upper middle range is stacked with Cade Cunningham, Tyrese Haliburton, and Anthony Edwards all looking underpriced. Couple that with the lack of quality punt value, and it’s tougher to jam in Giannis or Luka at their premium price points. I’m comfortable with biting the bullet and coming in under the field on both of them.
Krayton: I will be playing single-entry contests. I agree with Taylor that there are quite a few mid-range options that stand out, leading me to more of a balanced build. I am looking at fading the higher-priced guys such as Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and LeBron James. I would rather build around guys like Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, Jalen Brunson, Cade Cunningham, Anthony Edwards, and Jaden McDaniels.
ncorfield8k: Large-field tournaments. Every game on this slate has a spread within 7, which means we’re likelier to see condensed rotations last deep into the games. This typically makes it harder to play a stars-and-scrubs approach with trustworthy value. Still, there are inexpensive players with clear paths to far exceeding value (Rudy Gobert, Dennis Schroder, Donte Divincenzo, Mike Conley, etc.) and pay-ups with 80-point upside at low ownership. I’ll mix-and-match and attempt stars-and-scrubs lineups.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

About the Author

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
