What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

tcsmith031: I’ll stay in the 20-max streets tonight. I think a more balanced build will be a popular approach, but I’d rather shoot for the moon and find the money to pay all the way up for Luka Doncic. The Lakers have the highest implied team total on the slate (127), and Luka posted a 47% usage rate the other night in LeBron’s season debut. We’ve seen the Jazz involved in plenty of shootouts already this season, and I want access to Doncic’s nuclear ceiling on this slate.

Krayton: I will be playing single-entry and 20-max contests on both sites. I have been playing around with locking in Luka Doncic, James Harden, or De’Aaron Fox for my 20-max contests. As of early this afternoon, none of those guys are in our optimal lineups, and I think this is a great way to get away from the more balanced build.

TJ Zwarych: I’ll just be playing one lineup in single-entry contests. I want to focus on the slightly less expensive spend-up options like De’Aaron Fox, Donovan Mitchell, and Devin Booker. I love the idea of pairing Fox and Booker together, while I think Mitchell is going overlooked in tournaments despite Cleveland being popular.

Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

Robert Brown (Epignosis)

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
