NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, October 20
Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?
Notorious: Jayson Tatum (DK) / Karl-Anthony Towns (FD)
headChopper: Jayson Tatum (DK) / Jalen Brunson (FD)
ncorfield8k: Jalen Brunson (DK) / Karl-Anthony Towns (FD)
How do you plan to beat the field of opponents in the tournaments you will be playing? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Notorious: These are the first regular season games, and we have a small slate. More than ever, a large portion of the field is going to lean heavily on projections. While I think our projections at RotoGrinders are elite, I also think it’s a good slate to be a little different. There are going to be players who fly under the radar, like Julian Champagnie and Jalen Duren. I’m still planning to eat a lot of chalk, but getting contrarian in a spot or two can make a huge difference, especially in small-field tournaments.
headChopper: As of Monday evening, the chalk appears to be Jalen Brunson and Dylan Harper on both sites, plus Jayson Tatum on DK, and I’m fine eating most of it at those prices. Where I want to separate from the field is at the top end and with my team exposure. On DK, that means pivoting to Victor Wembanyama, who projects similarly to Tatum at about a third of the pOWN%. On both sites, the field seems to be loading up on the Knicks side of the PHI/NYK game while leaving the 76ers under-owned. With FD down to just 2 games, nearly every good player is going to be heavily owned, so I’ll look to win with lineup combinations rather than individual players. That means building around Sixers stacks while the field crowds into the Knicks.
ncorfield8k: With some major changes on some of these teams, the early season will be unpredictable. I’ll be leaning into the chaos by mixing in contrarian players in all of my lineups. Outside of LeBron James, none of the Sixers starters are getting much pOWN%. I think there will be game-to-game volatility in who puts up the big score, which will keep ownership in check. I will be over the field on all of Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid.
Who is your favorite play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?

About the Author
Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
