NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, April 19
Who is your favorite player to spend up for in cash games?
Notorious: Tyler Herro
squirrelpatrol: Tyler Herro
eys819: Tyler Herro
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: On FanDuel, I’ll go with DeMar DeRozan. Everyone seems scared of the matchup, even though his individual matchup is a lot better with Jimmy Butler out. He’s going to see minutes in the mid-40s with a high usage rate. On DraftKings, my favorite tournament strategy is to pair Jonas Valanciunas and Larry Nance. With center being such a stacked position, I don’t expect many to take this approach. We saw these two split all 48 of the center minutes the other night, and now Zion Williamson has been ruled out. This opens up minutes, usage, and rebounding chances. Essentially, we can get at least 48 minutes from this duo at a combined price of only $9,700.
squirrelpatrol: Jonas Valanciunas – Valanciunas should see higher ownership on DraftKings, but even with just 2 games, he is currently projected for single-digit ownership on FanDuel. Just 2 games ago, it looked like Valanciunas might be out of the rotation when Larry Nance started the 2nd half in his place, but the injury to Zion Williamson changes things completely. Valanciunas ranked 2nd on the Pelicans in minutes (869) and DK points per minute (1.26) with Zion off the court this season.
eys819: Herbert Jones – Trey Murphy is expected to be the far more popular Pelicans player in the mid-range, as he presumably steps into the starting lineup for the injured Zion Williamson. I’ll gladly take the pOWN% discount on Jones (or Jose Alvarado) and hope he can fill up the stat sheet across multiple categories. There is also a decent chance Jones plays 40+ minutes in this one.
