NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, January 12

Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Anfernee Simons – This play is not for the risk-averse crowd. If you look at his game log, he has scored 21, 21, 62, 17, and 25 fantasy points, respectively, over his last 5 games. One of those outings was a tournament-winning performance, and the rest were all duds. The volatility should keep ownership low, and so will the fact that the Blazers are double-digit underdogs and playing on the second half of a back-to-back. Simons should have plenty of opportunities, as the Blazers are expected to be without Deandre Ayton and Shaedon Sharpe.

squirrelpatrol: Devin Vassell – The IND/ATL game has the higher total, but the Spurs and Hornets allow the 5th- and 6th-most points per game in the NBA, respectively. Vassell is averaging 20.8 points and 3.8 assists per game in January while shooting 48% from 3-point range.

eys819: Bam Adebayo – All of Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Kyle Lowry are out for this game, and the offense should run through Bam. He is in the same price range as other popular centers like Alperen Sengun and Domantas Sabonis, making him a great tournament pivot. Orlando has been really solid on the defensive end this season, but Bam has upside for upper-30s minutes in a close game and should have the ball in his hands even more than usual.

Bobby Gomes: Trae Young – The beauty about Pacers games this season has been how fast they play (1st in pace) and their offensive rating (1st). On the other end of the court, they rank near the bottom in defensive rating (27th). Trae is probable tonight, and early pOWN% projects him around 5%. The Pacers will be without Tyrese Haliburton, which could keep this track meet close for Atlanta. Trae’s floor is safe, and his ceiling has proven to be one of the highest in the game on any given night.

Who is your top overall play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
