NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, January 19

Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Joel Embiid – If nobody is going to play Embiid tonight, I guess I’ll have to nibble in tournaments. He just had a streak of 16 straight games where he scored at least 30 points and grabbed at least 10 rebounds. That’s almost unheard of in this day and age. A matchup against the Magic isn’t ideal, but Embiid has been matchup-proof all season.

squirrelpatrol: Saddiq Bey – Dejounte Murray and Bogdan Bogdanovic will both be popular plays with Trae Young out, but Bey actually sees the biggest usage increase of the Hawks’ rotation players with Young off the court this season. Bey has seen the 3rd-most minutes this season with Young off the court (330 minutes) and gets a 4.6% usage bump in that situation.

eys819: Paolo Banchero – He gets a difficult matchup with the Sixers, but Banchero has flashed a massive ceiling with Franz Wagner off the floor. He was underwhelming (from a fantasy standpoint) in a great matchup with the Hawks his last time out, but that should only help keep the field off of him. He has two games with 60+ fantasy points in the 7 games Franz has missed.

Bobby Gomes: Joel Embiid – Another healthy 7-game slate and another opportunity to have Embiid at merely 2% pOWN%. We could argue that the reigning MVP has consistently been the best fantasy producer this season. His floor is at 65 fantasy points, and his ceiling is to the moon each night. The Sixers play at the 12th-fastest pace and are 5th in offensive rating.

Who is your top overall play (when considering price, matchup, roster construction, etc.) on the board and why?
