NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, January 29
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Luka Doncic – Anytime we can get Luka at low projected ownership with Kyrie Irving out, we have to at least consider him in tournaments. As of now, we have him projected for 9% ownership on FanDuel and 16% on DraftKings. That’s quite low for a player that has the highest projection on the slate. There’s enough value (especially on the Knicks) to easily fit him in lineups if you want to make him a priority. A matchup against the Magic doesn’t look great on paper, but the Mavericks still have a team total of 116.8 points.
squirrelpatrol: Jeremy Sochan – Sochan draws the same excellent matchup that Victor Wembanyama draws, but he should see lower ownership. Sochan is averaging 13.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in January, his highest monthly averages this season, and he can be paired with Wembanyama or used as a pivot.
eys819: Devin Booker – He gets a tough matchup against Miami, but Booker has been on fire recently. He has scored at least 44 real-life points in 4 of his last 6 games, posting a 37.5% usage rate and 70.4% true shooting percentage in that time. The Heat have also been struggling of late, dropping each of their last 6 games.
TastefulTides: Collin Sexton – We are likely going to see a lot of ownership on the Nets due to their cheap price tags. I really like getting to a run-back in what should be a very close game. The Jazz rotation can be difficult to figure out at times, but Sexton seems to have found a consistent role. He is projecting for right around 10% ownership on both sites, and I think he is a good way to get different while still building into one of the more popular games.
