NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, January 18
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
tcsmith031: Rudy Gobert – I expect Jaren Jackson to draw the Karl-Anthony Towns assignment, which means Gobert will spend most of the night tangling with whatever is left of the Grizzlies’ makeshift frontcourt. Gobert is seemingly never a popular target at a deep center position, yet he comes into tonight’s game riding a streak of 4 consecutive double-doubles. This is also an ideal matchup, considering the Grizzlies are allowing 6.7 blocks per game, which is the most in the league.
squirrelpatrol: Julius Randle – The Wizards are the worst rebounding team in the NBA by a large margin, allowing 49.8 rebounds per game with the worst rebounding differential. Now they’re down their top three centers from the beginning of the season and are facing a Knicks team that has the best rebounding differential in the NBA. Julius Randle should be able to feast tonight.
headChopper: De’Aaron Fox – Early ownership projections have Fox at less than 10% on DK and just 15% on FD. We’ll see if that changes throughout the day, but it shouldn’t be a drastic change. I will gladly sign up for that ownership on a 5-game slate against the fast pace and bad defense of Indiana.
eys819: De’Aaron Fox – He has struggled a bit recently but has really gotten back on track in the last 2 games, with 30+ real-life points against the Suns and Bucks. He gets a fantastic matchup against Indiana, who plays at the 2nd-fastest pace and ranks just 27th in defensive rating. Newly acquired Pascal Siakam is not yet expected to be available for the Pacers, and they sent their best perimeter defender (Bruce Brown) away in the trade.
