NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, December 13

Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

Notorious: Caleb Martin – There are times when I watch Martin play and think he could legitimately be an All-Star. Then there are times I watch him play and think, “What happened to this guy?” Luckily, his recent form has been more of the former than the latter. With Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and Haywood Highsmith all out, he’s getting the chance to start and play big minutes. Over the last 3 games, he has averaged 34 minutes and 39 fantasy points. His pOWN% is low, and he draws an exploitable matchup at home against the Hornets.

squirrelpatrol: Giannis Antetokounmpo – The Bucks have a 132.5 implied team total, and the points will likely come in the paint, with the Pacers allowing the most points in the paint per game in the NBA and the fewest 3-pointers made per game. Giannis averages 20.9 points in the paint per game, which is 3.1 more than the next-highest player, Zion Williamson (17.8).

headChopper: Giannis Antetokounmpo – Early ownership projections have Giannis hovering between 4-7%. Seems way too low for the best player in a game that has a 258 total (highest of the night by a wide margin). He’s played this new-style Indiana team twice this season and has averaged 45.5 real-life points against them to go along with double-digit rebounds in each game.

Stevietpfl: Joel Embiid – Embiid projects to be the highest-scoring player on the slate, but he’s projected for less than 5% ownership on both FanDuel and DraftKings. The 76ers are a 12-point favorite on the road. If this game happens to stay close, Embiid has the ceiling to break the slate at low ownership. I’m going to take him on one of my three lineups, and I think it’s worth the risk.

TastefulTides: Tyrese Haliburton – Currently 5% on FD and 1% on DK, Haliburton is a fantastic play for large-field GPPs. I suspect there will be some value open up later in the day that will allow you to get to him more easily, but even now, he’s very playable. He has shown an explosive ceiling throughout the season, and I don’t think he gets enough credit in the DFS community. Damian Lillard has no shot at stopping him. Haliburton can easily put up 70 fantasy points in this amazing game environment.
