NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, December 20
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Coby White – I don’t know what he has to do to win over the hearts of DFS players. With Zach LaVine out of the lineup, he has topped 40 fantasy points in 6 straight games and draws a pace-up matchup at home. The Lakers are a solid defensive team as a whole, but D’Angelo Russell has never been known for his defensive prowess. I will continue to target White in tournaments.
squirrelpatrol: Fred VanVleet – The Hawks allow the 3rd-most points and the 3rd-most assists in the NBA this season, and the Rockets are favored by 3 points playing at home tonight. VanVleet is coming off a 27-point, 17-assist game against Cleveland on Monday, both season highs, and he has increased his points per game each month so far this season.
headChopper: Jalen Green – He’s been hit-or-miss this season, bringing down his ownership numbers a bit. The price tag is fantastic on both sites, and this matchup with Atlanta could bring out the best parts of his game: the ability to score and score in transition. Houston has a different cast of characters this season, but in three previous meetings against Atlanta in his career, Green has hit 30+ real-life points twice.
Stevietpfl: Alperen Sengun – Atlanta is allowing the 5th-most fantasy points per game to opposing centers this season. They’re also 4th in pace and 27th in defensive rating. Houston is 28th in pace, so this is a great pace-up spot for Houston. Sengun has a 27% usage rate on the season, and he’s averaging 1.31 fantasy points per minute. I think this is a high-ceiling spot for him.
TastefulTides: Terry Rozier – It’s a little disconcerting paying this much for Scary Terry, but I want to get exposure to this game. The Pacers play at the fastest pace in the league and are tied for the league’s worst defensive rating. Yes, the Pacers are 9.5-point favorites, but I still think Rozier gets his full allotment of minutes. He is currently projected for under 5% ownership on both sites and could conceivably shoot the ball 25 times.
