NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Wednesday, January 10
Who is your top contrarian play (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
Notorious: Jalen Duren – We currently have his pOWN at 10% on FanDuel and 20% on DraftKings, but I could see those numbers coming down as injury news is reported throughout the day. The Pistons are playing in the second half of a back-to-back, but they are still without Isaiah Stewart and draw one of the best matchups on the board. The Spurs are 27th in rebounding rate and 25th in defensive rating. Duren has averaged 1.16 DK / 1.13 FD points per minute this season and has shown a high floor recently. In this matchup, perhaps we see some more upside.
squirrelpatrol: Deni Avdija – Avdija has seen his playing time gradually increase, averaging more than 28 minutes per game in January (his highest monthly average this season) and is likely one of the few players the Wizards consider a solid part of their future. Avdija has gone over 40 DK points in 3 of his last 6 games, and tonight, he faces a Pacers team allowing the 2nd-most points in the NBA.
headChopper: Jayson Tatum – Early projected ownership has Tatum at less than 3% on both sites. What draws me to him in GPPs is this matchup with Minnesota. Sure, it should be tough and defensive-minded, but there is no substitute for a full allotment of minutes for Tatum. When Boston blows people out, which is often, Tatum gets capped around 30 minutes. In those games where he has to play all rotations fully, he can get up to 37+ minutes. This thing should be tight in Boston tonight.
Stevietpfl: Domantas Sabonis – Sabonis has posted at least 60 DK / 50 FD points in 4 of his last 6 games. The Kings are on the second half of a back-to-back, but they draw a fantastic matchup against Charlotte. Charlotte is allowing the 3rd-most fantasy points per game to opposing centers. Sabonis is coming off a huge triple-double against Detroit and will hopefully keep in rolling.
