NBA DFS Strategy - Harden or Westbrook? Westbrook or Harden?

HARDEN OR WESTBROOK? WESTBROOK OR HARDEN?

I feel like I was asked this exact question on Crunch Time every time the Rockets were on a slate during the 2019-20 NBA season, especially in the month or two before the season was suspended and Westbrook had started playing better and better. So when the NBA went on its hiatus and I was thinking of what kind of content I could write during the lull, there were several questions that I was curious to answer:

- Which of these guys ended up being the better play for the dollar more often during the last few months of the season (pre-NBA hiatus)?

- And who did our projections say was the better play for the dollar more often during those games?

Selfishly, I was curious if I was giving good advice each night. I could watch old shows and add up the tallies if I wanted to, but I feel pretty certain in saying that my advice on those nights more often than not was, “If it’s my lineup, I’m going Harden over Westbrook”.

Now obviously, the salaries matter here, as Harden was always priced more expensively than Westbrook. But as you can see from this graph…
