Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best plays, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
Happy Monday!
We are almost at the end of March, which means April showers will soon be among us. For our sake, hopefully, those showers include raining DFS as well.
For all the Duke fans out there, I feel your pain. For all the UConn fans out there, enjoy the win. What an incredible finish to punch their ticket to the Final Four.
With April, we also get the Masters and the start of the NBA playoffs. It’ll be so great to have some meaningful NBA games again. As for tonight in the association, there are 8 games on the schedule. FanDuel decided to roll out an 8-game slate, while DraftKings decided to leave off DET/OKC and WAS/LAL.
Thanks for joining me. Let’s dive into the games!

Team Previews

Philadelphia 76ers (at MIA)
We kick off tonight’s slate with the Sixers, who travel to Miami to face a Heat team that leads the league in pace and ranks 22nd in points allowed per game. This is a pace-up spot for the Sixers, and they are listed as 2-point favorites. The Sixers have a team total of 124 points, which is 8 points higher than their season average. The only negative here is that all of their key players should be available.
While I don’t love the fact that all of their key players are back, this is still one of the best spots on the slate. Tyrese Maxey played 43 minutes and scored 51 fantasy points in his first game back from injury, so we don’t have to worry about him being on a minutes restriction. If spending up on a player from the Sixers, I slightly prefer Joel Embiid. He has scored at least 49 fantasy points in 7 of the last 10 games.
Perhaps the suspension was the best possible thing for Paul George, as he has looked as good as he has in years. Over the last 2 games, he has scored 57 and 55 fantasy points. I don’t love the idea of paying a premium for him on a large slate, but he’s worth a look in large-field tournaments. VJ Edgecombe has played well over the last few weeks, but I can’t stomach his price point with Maxey and Embiid back from injury.
Miami Heat (vs. PHI)
The Heat are 9th in the East but can move up in the standings with a strong finish to the season. They have a mediocre matchup against the Sixers, who rank 16th in pace and 19th in points allowed per game. The Heat’s team total is 122 points, which is 2 points higher than their season average. This is a back-to-back, so we are still waiting on their injury report. We have Norman Powell listed as questionable in the Situation Room.
If Powell is active, I likely won’t have any exposure to the Heat’s guards and wings. There are a lot of bodies splitting minutes, and they are all eating into each other’s ceiling. If Powell is out, we should see upticks in minutes and/or usage for Davion Mitchell, Tyler Herro, and Pelle Larsson. Bam Adebayo is the only player on the roster with a positive RGValue in LineupHQ. While he projects well, he’s priced up and has been held under 44 fantasy points in 4 straight games. I’m happy to be underweight on him in tournaments.
