Core Plays LIVE: NBA DFS Picks for Monday, November 10th

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career. On weekends, Taylor Smith takes the wheel. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best plays, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
Hello! I’m off to a bit of a late start today, so not much time for shenanigans. We’re looking at a hefty 9-gamer on FanDuel with 8 games on DraftKings. The only difference, as usual, is FD decided to include the late-night ATL/LAC hammer. We’ve also got a few more teams on back-to-backs, so there’s always the potential for some mayhem to shake things up on the injury front.
Off we go!

News Updates
Here’s where I’ll provide news updates for the people.
Team Previews

Los Angeles Lakers (at CHA)
We’ll tip things off with the Lakers, who went into Atlanta and got humiliated by a very shorthanded version of the Hawks on Saturday night. JJ Redick was none too pleased, and he yanked his hapless starters about midway through the third quarter. LeBron James isn’t quite ready to rock just yet, though Austin Reaves is officially questionable with the groin issue that’s kept him out for about a week. LA is an 8.5-point favorite tonight in Charlotte.
This is an outstanding matchup, with the Hornets coming into this one ranked a grim 25th in defensive efficiency. Luka Doncic (1.9 FP/minute) didn’t get there the other night thanks to the blowout, but he wasn’t really the Lakers’ problem in that one. Luka actually cracked the rare $13,000 fantasy threshold on FanDuel, while $12,000 on DraftKings still looks like a bit of an underpay. We’ve seen ceiling from Doncic even with Reaves in the lineup, so I’m still interested in Luka in any scenario. I doubt Reaves would be limited if he returns after such a short absence. $8,400 feels like a lot to pay for Reaves with Luka in the mix, but he’s still playable in GPPs.
As usual, I have minimal interest in much else from LA. Marcus Smart would look a little better if Reaves is out, but it’s not like he’s cheap. Deandre Ayton would be a viable tournament dart throw at center if Reaves misses another game.
Charlotte Hornets (vs. LAL)
The Hornets are fairly sizable home underdogs to the Lakers as they continue to deal with some important injuries. LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, Josh Green, and Grant Williams are all out again tonight, while Miles Bridges is questionable with a sore back. The roster is awfully shorthanded as a result, and even more value will open up if Bridges misses this one.
If Bridges gives it a go, he looks like a strong play. I think there’s room for improvement on his current 1.05 FP/minute average sans Ball/Miller, and the minutes should be secure for as long as Charlotte can keep this one competitive. We’re expecting Collin Sexton to return to the starting lineup after missing the last game, though we also have Tre Mann sticking with the starters. Both guards have usage rates of around 28% this season with Melo and Miller off the floor. I think the minutes are generally safer for Sexton, and he grades out particularly well on FD ($5,800). I’ll have more interest in Mann if Bridges sits out.
Kon Knueppel (1.03 FP/minute) has been awesome to start the season, though his usage should take a hit tonight with Sexton back and if Bridges plays. Knueppel’s salaries are on the rise, though I’ll be happy to go right back to the well, especially if Bridges is out. Sion James is projected to top 30 minutes, but he’s a low-usage defensive-minded player averaging just 0.61 FP/minute. Ryan Kalkbrenner and Moussa Diabate are both viable tournament targets. If Kalkbrenner projects for some ownership, Diabate is always an interesting pivot in GPPs.
Portland Trail Blazers (at ORL)
