NBA DFS Core Plays LIVE: Monday, November 13th

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.

Is it just me or was that one of the most tilting Sundays of NFL in recent memory? Much like NBA, I do tags in LineupHQ for NFL. I had Ja’Marr Chase and T.J. Hockenson both tagged as Expert Plays up until Sunday morning. Reports about Chase being doubtful, probable, a full-go, and a decoy were all over the place, so I decided to play Christian McCaffrey over him instead. That was a mistake. Reports on Hockenson were that he was only going to play in ‘key situations,’ so I took him out of my main lineup as well. It turns out every single play of the game was a ‘key situation.’ I had to watch both players have massive fantasy outings while my pivots did nothing of the sort.

We have similar reporting issues in NBA DFS, although this season, it’s been more of a lack of reporting that has been the problem. We’ve had at least two players (Jalen Smith and Markelle Fultz) that weren’t even on the injury report get ruled out in-between the 10 minutes of when a game locks and when it actually starts. We can’t be having this when leagues are partnered with sportsbooks and DFS sites. And that brings up another point: why can’t basketball games start on time? Every other sport starts at the given time on the schedule. I have never understood the 10-minute grace period that we get for NBA games.

Other than tilting DFS, it was fun weekend. My Friendsgiving went over well. I am not the best cook of the friend group, so I brought a cocktail (apple pie shots to be festive). The friend that hosted has a golf simulator, so we decided to have some fun with it since not everyone in the group loves golf. We decided to only play par fives, and the only two clubs we could use were his son’s driver (he’s five years old) or a 60-degree wedge. I couldn’t believe how straight I hit that tiny driver — 200 yards down the middle every time. One friend shanked six or seven chips in a row and another hit a drive that bounced off the screen and hit him right in the nose. A lot of laughs, which is always good for the soul.

I hope you all enjoyed the weekend and are now ready to get back to the grind. We only have four games on the schedule tonight and only three teams playing in the second half of a back-to-back — the Knicks, Wizards, and Bulls. The issue with tonight’s slate is how many potential blowouts we have on our hands, as three of the four games feature spreads of at least 9.0 points. Blowouts are tough to predict in the NBA, but it’s valuable in DFS when you do predict them correctly.
