NBA DFS Core Plays LIVE: Saturday, January 13th

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
We’re looking at 7-game NBA slates on both DraftKings and FanDuel this evening with the latest game on the schedule – Lakers at Jazz – having been left out in the cold. Quite a few of the games aren’t projected to be all that close. Three of the seven games on the slate feature double-digit point spreads, while we’ve got another one with a 9-point differential. Predicting blowouts is generally difficult to do these days, but there are some pretty clear on-paper mismatches out there tonight.
Regardless, I’ll be here throughout the day to help navigate you through whatever potential mayhem arises.

News Updates
Here’s where I’ll update for news.
Team Previews
Houston Rockets (at BOS): The first game of the night is the one with the widest spread. The Celtics are favored by over 2 touchdowns against a Rockets side that had to scratch and claw its way past the Pistons in Detroit. This is far from an ideal scenario for the visitors, and they only have a 106.5 total in this one. Jalen Green ($6,300 DK, $6,400 FD) projects as a decent point-per-dollar value, but his usage could take a hit if Dillon Brooks returns to the lineup here. It’s also not a terrible matchup for Fred VanVleet and Jabari Smith as some of Houston’s better 3-point shooters, but I’m also not dying to get lots of exposure to this spot.
Boston Celtics (vs. HOU): The Celtics got absolutely gobsmacked by the Bucks on Thursday, and they’ll try to right the ship tonight back at home. We’re expecting a full complement of Celtics to be available for this one, and Houston’s defense will get a boost if Brooks suits up. I wouldn’t say you’re doing it wrong to roll the dice on one of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, or Kristaps Porzingis as a lower-owned GPP one-off, but nobody on the Boston side pops in projections with the team fully healthy. The Celts’ 121.25 implied team total is also just the 5th-highest on the board.
