NBA DFS Core Plays LIVE: Saturday, January 6th

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. On weekends, Taylor Smith takes the reins. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
We’ve got a relatively modest 4-game NBA slate on tap for Saturday on the heels of Friday’s 14-game bonanza. Last night’s docket featured quite a few blowouts along with some late-breaking injury news, so your lineups pre-lock likely looked nothing like those that you wound up with after the news hit. Things shouldn’t be quite as chaotic with so few games on the schedule for tonight, but you never know with the NBA these days.
Anyway, let’s dive right into this nice little 4-gamer, shall we?

News Updates
Here’s where I’ll update for news throughout the day.
Team Previews
Boston Celtics (at IND): The Celtics absolutely trashed the Jazz last night at home, which was good news considering they’ll need fresh legs tonight for a matchup against those high-octane Pacers. This game features the highest total on the slate (245), and Boston is favored by 5 points on the road. Al Horford will be back after resting last night, so we’re expecting a full complement of Celtics in this one. Just about everyone on this team is more attractively priced on DraftKings than on FanDuel, so I plan to get most of my Boston exposure over on DK. Jayson Tatum ($9,700) and Jaylen Brown ($7,800) are the clear headliners.
Indiana Pacers (vs. BOS): The Pacers enjoyed a blowout victory of their own last night at home against the hapless Hawks. Tonight’s matchup against the Celtics’ 5th-ranked defense is significantly more daunting, but Indy still has a healthy 120.75 total here. Aaron Nesmith and Andrew Nembhard are both iffy for the home team. Guys like Bennedict Mathurin and T.J. McConnell would again see the biggest boosts if they happen to sit, though it’s worth noting McConnell’s big score last night came as a result of major garbage time minutes. It’s worth noting that Tyrese Haliburton is down to just $9,900 on DK, which is far too cheap for his production (1.55 FP/minute) even in a tough spot. If the questionable guys suit up, Haliburton and Myles Turner are the only Pacers really on my radar.
