NBA DFS Core Plays LIVE: Sunday, January 14th

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
Happy Sunday! It sure sounds like this is a pretty wild weather day around the country, so be safe wherever you are. It’s 28 degrees where I am as of this writing, which is a bit nippy. I’m sure that doesn’t sound too awful to many of you, but keep in mind that I am, in fact, a wimp.
Anyway, we’ve got a nice little 4-game NBA slate on tap to complement the NFL playoff bonanza. Keep in mind that the NBA slate gets underway at 6 PM ET, an hour earlier than usual. Without further ado, let’s dive right in.

Here’s where I’ll provide news updates.
Team Previews
Charlotte Hornets (at MIA): We’ll tip things off with the Hornets, who head into Miami tonight as 7.5-point underdogs to the Heat. LaMelo Ball returned after missing a month and a half with an ankle injury on Friday and logged 27 minutes in the blowout loss to San Antonio. Melo isn’t really cheap enough around the industry to grade out as a great play in limited minutes, while his presence is enough to nerf the massive role Terry Rozier had been playing. Miles Bridges however should play upwards of 40 minutes here if the Hornets can keep it close with all of Brandon Miller, Gordon Hayward, and PJ Washington likely to be missing from the lineup. That’s enough to keep Bridges in play as a mid-range spend. I’m not excited about the spot for Nick Richards, but he is back under $6,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
Miami Heat (vs. CHA): Tyler Herro and Kevin Love are questionable for Miami tonight, while Jimmy Butler is doubtful with his toe injury. Herro (28.9%) and Bam Adebayo (27.7%) predictably handle most of the usage without Jimmy, and it’s a particularly great spot for Bam against that woeful Hornets frontcourt. Herro would be a strong option in the $8,000 range if he suits up, as I don’t expect limited minutes after missing a game with a shoulder issue. Duncan Robinson and Jaime Jaquez pushed for 40 minutes in the last game with Herro sidelined, so keep that in mind in case Herro sits again tonight.
