Happy Tuesday!

We have a big week in store in the sports world. THE PLAYERS Championship kicks off on Thursday morning, which is one of the biggest golf events of the year. DraftKings is rolling out two different Milly Makers for the event, along with a ton of other huge prize pools. We also have NBA games, NCAA conference tournaments, and NHL games.

While it’s no longer light outside when I wake up, there’s nothing better than daylight savings time. Some people thrive in the darkness, but I need some sunlight in my life. I can’t stand when it gets dark at 5:30 PM. But that’s officially in the rearview mirror, and the weather is only going to get warmer moving forward.

We have 11 games on the schedule this evening, although FanDuel and DraftKings have done us a favor by only including the first 7 games on their main slates.

Team Previews

Jackson of the Grizzlies

Memphis Grizzlies (at PHI)

We kick off tonight’s slate with the Grizzlies, who head to Philadelphia for a middling matchup against the 76ers, who are 19th in pace and 18th in points allowed per game. Memphis has a team total that is 4 points lower than their season average, but that’s not bad considering how many injuries they are dealing with. This is a back-to-back, so we are still waiting on their injury report. In the Situation Room, we have Ja Morant, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Brandon Clarke, and Zach Edey listed out, and Santi Aldama is listed as questionable.

The Grizzlies have had 8 or 9 players available the last few games, which is why we’ve been able to target them in DFS. We currently have 13 players projected to play for Memphis, which makes them one of the easiest teams on the slate to fade as a whole. There’s not a single player on the roster with an RGValue that’s better than -5. Unless they decide to rule out a bunch of players, I’m going to take my chances elsewhere.

Philadelphia 76ers (vs. MEM)

The Sixers draw a solid home matchup against the Grizzlies, who rank 10th in pace and 24th in points allowed per game. Philadelphia’s team total is 2 points higher than their season average, which says a lot given the health of their team. This is a back-to-back, so we are still waiting on their injury report. We have Paul George, Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and VJ Edgecombe all listed as out or doubtful in the Situation Room.

If the Sixers are missing those four key players once again, we have to like them at home in an ideal matchup. The projections don’t love Philly here, but I like them a lot more than I did on last night’s slate. The big difference is that they are 5.5-point favorites rather than 12.5-point underdogs. Quentin Grimes has had a usage rate of 20% over the last 3 games and has averaged 36 minutes during that stretch. He should be one of the top options offensively. Cam Payne sat out the whole 4th quarter of last night’s blowout, but he still played 27 minutes and scored 27 fantasy points. If he plays 30+ minutes, he should have no problem exceeding salary-based expectations.

Kelly Oubre is expensive, but he should have a much bigger role. He picked up three early fouls in the first half of last night’s game and then sat out most of the second half in the blowout. If anything, we should view his 13 minutes as a positive, as he’ll have fresher legs than his teammates. Dominick Barlow, Adem Bona, and Trendon Watford should all see minutes in the 20s and can be used as lineup fillers on tonight’s slate.
