A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.

Happy Tuesday!

If you are ever looking for something for your kids and/or nieces and nephews to do, try the egg drop challenge. It’s an activity that requires creativity and productive thinking. More importantly, it gets them away from their screens for a couple of hours. If you aren’t familiar, you build something for the egg to sit in and drop it off the roof. The goal is to keep the egg from cracking. I decided to do a three-part challenge with my little one over the weekend. For the first round, we could use any material we could find. I cut open a stuffed animal, while my little one put the egg inside a toilet paper roll and then wrapped it up in an Amazon package. Both eggs survived.

For the second round, we could only use paper and scotch tape. I built a little cocoon for the egg and then bolstered all sides with rolled-up pieces of paper. My son was more concerned with decorating his paper than the actual construction. His egg did not survive the landing. For the final round, all we could use was duct tape. I took a similar approach as I did with the paper, while the kiddo just taped all around the egg. Once again, his egg did not survive the landing. The stakes were pretty high for this competition — I got to choose what fast food place to get food from and he had to tell all his friends that his dad was the best egg drop challenge builder in the world.

If NBA DFS were the egg drop challenge, my egg has cracked more often than not over the last couple of weeks. I need to apply that creative and productive thinking to my lineup building. We have 7 games on the schedule tonight, with 2 teams playing in the second half of a back-to-back (Spurs, Celtics).

Team Previews

Philadelphia 76ers (at NYK): We kick off the slate with the Sixers, who are desperately trying to hang onto one of the top six spots in the Eastern Conference standings. They are facing the Knicks, who are in a very similar situation. This matchup is a little better than it looks on paper, but it’s still a tough spot for Philadelphia. They come into the game with a total that is 14.7 points below their season average. That might be the biggest gap between a total and the average points per game that we have seen all season. The Sixers are still without Joel Embiid, De’Anthony Melton, and Robert Covington. Even with those injuries, there’s not anything that stands out from a projections standpoint. In fact, there’s not a single player on the team with an RGValue better than -4.3. Yikes.

New York Knicks (vs. PHI): The Knicks have lost 6 of their last 10 games. They are currently 4th in the Eastern Conference standings, but they are in danger of dropping down to 7th or 8th if they don’t turn their ship around. Tonight they host the Sixers, who are 18th in defensive rating over the last 10 games. The Knicks are 6-point favorites but have a total that is 6.0 points below their season average. Julius Randle is still out, but it sounds like OG Anunoby could return to the lineup tonight. I still expect a condensed rotation, even if Anunoby can suit up. Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo should all push for 35+ minutes. I’m not going to prioritize them on this slate, but all three are viable in tournaments.
