Happy Tuesday!
When I was growing up, we had family pictures almost every year. I never thought much about it, other than being annoyed by having to dress up and stand there smiling for a couple of hours. A few months ago, my dad had this grand idea to do family photos. He booked a photographer, picked out everyone’s outfits (20+ people), and set the date. Unfortunately, it was rained out (where was Kevin Roth when we needed him?). It happened to be warm this last Sunday, so everyone did what they could to make it happen.
My better half deserves a huge shout-out, as I never knew how much prep went into these things. Between getting two outfits picked out and ready for each person, cutting the boys’ hair, and looking stunning herself, I’m not sure how she did it. I can’t wait to see how they turn out, especially the ones with the boys and their baby sister. Family photos are one of those things that are a pain but are worth it in the end. All I ask is that next time we don’t plan it for an NFL Sunday. Be better, pops.
We have 6 games in the association tonight, but only the first 5 games are included on the main slates for DraftKings and FanDuel. Let’s dive right into it.

Team Previews

Toronto Raptors (at BKN)
We kick off tonight’s 5-game slate with the Raptors, who draw an elite matchup against the Nets. While Brooklyn plays at a slow pace, they are 29th or 30th in the NBA in rebounding rate, 3-point percentage allowed, defensive rating, and points allowed per game. The Raptors are 10.5-point favorites and have a team total of 123 points. Sandro Mamukelashvili is listed as questionable.
Immanuel Quickley has seen upticks in minutes, usage, and fantasy points over his last 3 games. He’s still priced under $7,000 and is a strong option in all formats in this matchup. I prefer Quickley over RJ Barrett tonight, as the latter has a similar projection at a higher price point. Brandon Ingram has been steady this season, but he has yet to score more than 42 fantasy points. He’s best suited as a cash game target.
Scottie Barnes has the most upside of any starter, as he has averaged 43 fantasy points per game and has already topped 58 fantasy points in 2 games. He should fill up the stat sheet tonight against the Nets. Jakob Poeltl has seen limited action this season, but he’s only $5,100 on FanDuel and should play around 25 minutes in an elite rebounding matchup.
Brooklyn Nets (vs. TOR)
The Nets are bad. They are really bad. You know it’s ugly when you are 10.5-point home underdogs against the Raptors. This is a mediocre matchup on paper, and the Nets come into the game with a team total that is 2 points above their season average. Cam Thomas and Haywood Highsmith are both out, while Day’Ron Sharpe is listed as questionable.
Egor Demin is a starter in name, but we only have him projected for 24 minutes tonight. He’s an interesting lineup filler on this short slate, but he’s far from a priority. He’s been more productive than Tyrese Martin on a per-minute basis and is projected for more minutes as well, so I’ll side with Demin over Martin. After topping 20 fantasy points in 6 straight games playing alongside Thomas, Terance Mann has been held under 10 fantasy points in the last 2 games without Thomas.
Michael Porter Jr. is really the only offensive weapon for the Nets right now. He boasts a 29% usage rate and has averaged 1.24 DK / 1.16 FD points per minute this season. He’s worth a look in tournaments, as we know the shot volume is going to be there. Noah Clowney has topped 29 minutes and has scored at least 23 fantasy points in 3 of his last 4 games. He’s not a safe play, but he does offer some upside at a cheap price point. Nic Claxton is also worth a look in tournaments after topping 40 fantasy points in 3 of his last 5 games.
