NBA DFS Core Plays LIVE: Wednesday, January 3rd

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.
A happy Wednesday indeed!
We have 12 NBA games on the schedule tonight, the PGA TOUR starts back up tomorrow in Hawaii, and we have the final week of the NFL regular season. On top of all that, kids are back in school after the long holiday break. I love my little one more than anything, but we were ready to battle after spending so much time together. I haven’t had a quiet house in weeks, so I will be working with a big smile on my face today.
As we have seen several times over the last few weeks, FanDuel and DraftKings have decided to leave the late games off of their main slates. Rather than having a 12-game slate that ends at 12:30 AM ET, we have a 10-game slate that ends at 11:30 PM ET. I will still cover the two late games in the team previews, but we will focus most of our attention on the main 10-game slate. Let’s dive into it!

Team Previews
Washington Wizards (at CLE): We kick off the Wednesday slate with the Wizards, who are my favorite team to target players against and my least favorite team to target players from. They have lost 7 of their last 10 games and sit at 6-26 on the season. They are large underdogs tonight against the Cavaliers, who are 24th in pace and 10th in defensive rating. Washington’s team total is 1.7 points below their season average. Danilo Gallinari is questionable for this game, but his availability doesn’t have much of an impact on the slate. Consider me locked into a full fade of the Wizards.
Cleveland Cavaliers (vs. WAS): The Cavaliers haven’t been able to stay healthy this season and have lost 5 of their last 10 games. The good news is that they draw a home matchup against the Wizards, who are 1st in pace and 29th in defensive rating. Despite missing key players, Cleveland’s team total is still 12.2 points higher than their season average. Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Ty Jerome have all been ruled out of this game. Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen grade out as elite plays at their respective positions, while Caris LeVert and Max Strus make for fine tournament plays.
