A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and Noto will mix it up in all different types of contests. So, who better to walk you through the madness of an NBA DFS slate? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best NBA DFS picks, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.

Happy Wednesday!

We are halfway through the work week. This is the time of the NBA season when information is arguably more important than anything else. We are already starting to see lengthy injury reports and late scratches. It’s only going to get worse over the next six weeks. The bad teams have little to play for, while the good teams want to stay healthy and prep for their postseason runs. This is the time to embrace the chaos. Unless DraftKings decides to bring no late swap back, we should be glued to our computers and/or phones when playing NBA DFS. And make sure to turn those injury notifications on.

For tonight’s slate, there are 8 games on the schedule. Despite having 3 super late games, both FanDuel and DraftKings decided to keep them on their main slates. This makes it easier from a content perspective and easier from a lineup-building perspective. I’ve always said the perfect slate size is somewhere between 6 and 10 games. We have 5 teams playing in the second half of a back-to-back (Magic, Cavaliers, Sixers, Hawks, Rockets) and 3 teams playing in the front half of a back-to-back (Bulls, Warriors, Kings).

As always, keep an eye on the news updates section. I generally try to update the rankings every couple of hours early in the day and then every 15 minutes or so as we get closer to lineup lock. A lot of that depends on the severity of the injury news that comes out throughout the day.

Team Previews

Orlando Magic (at WAS): We kick off the slate with the Magic, who are playing in the second half of a back-to-back. They have won 8 of their last 10 games but have struggled a bit on the road (15-18) this season. Luckily, they draw a very winnable matchup against the Wizards, who are 1st in pace and dead last in defensive rating. The Magic have a total that is 4.7 points above their season average. Gary Harris has been ruled out, while Jonathan Isaac could also rest given the back-to-back. The Magic don’t project particularly well tonight, but it’s hard to completely ignore a matchup against Washington. At the very least, Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner are worth a look in tournaments.

Washington Wizards (vs. ORL): The Wizards have lost 15 games in a row and are in a battle for last place in the league. Tonight they host the Magic, who have been one of the worst matchups for fantasy production this season. The Wizards are 7.5-point underdogs and have a total that is 6.1 points below their season average. Marvin Bagley and Isaiah Livers are both out, which opens some minutes in the frontcourt. Richaun Holmes is only $3,800 on DraftKings and could push for minutes in the 20s. I’m not forcing them into lineups tonight, but over the last 4 games, Kyle Kuzma has averaged 46 fantasy points, Jordan Poole has averaged 37 fantasy points, and Deni Avdija has averaged 36 fantasy points. They can be added to your large-field tournament player pool.
