The NBA regular season tips off on Tuesday with a triple-header on NBC. The action begins at 3:00 PM ET with the Celtics against the Pistons, followed by LeBron James and the 76ers taking on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. The Thunder and Spurs are the final game of the night, renewing their rivalry after meeting in last season’s Western Conference Finals.

Fortunately, the NBA injury report isn’t a major point of discussion on opening night. The status of Tobias Harris is worth monitoring for the Spurs, but all the big names should be on the floor. Be sure to use our tools like CourtIQ to evaluate how injuries impact usage and to search for inefficiencies in the player prop and DFS markets.

Best NBA Player Props for Tuesday, October 20th

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 PM ET on Tuesday, October 20th:

Mitchell Robinson OVER 6.5 Points (-110, DraftKings)

In 2 preseason games, Robinson scored 6 points in 14 minutes against the 76ers and 12 points in 17 minutes against the Hornets.

Head coach Joe Mazzulla has been intentional about getting Robinson involved in the team’s offensive plans – significantly more than the Knicks used Robinson in recent seasons. Still, Robinson averaged 5.7 points per game last season in a reserve role where he was essentially left to clean up the offensive glass.

Now, he will have plays designed to get him the ball with a chance to score. This is a tough opening matchup against a good Detroit paint defense, but it’s possible the market is not properly forecasting Robinson’s new role ahead of Boston’s regular-season opener.

LeBron James OVER 0.5 Triple-Doubles (+980, DraftKings)

LeBron didn’t leave his family on the other side of the country to mess around in Philadelphia. Everything about his early tenure with the 76ers has been all business, with his sights set on competing for a 5th championship.

He has a long-established love affair with playing at Madison Square Garden. LeBron had 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in only 25 minutes during the team’s preseason finale. He shouldn’t face any significant minutes restrictions on opening night against the Knicks. This is an intriguing price for him to record a triple-double in his new role as a “swiss army knife” for the 76ers.

Dylan Harper OVER 1.5 3-Pointers Made (+156, Novig)

Harper prioritized improving his perimeter shooting during the offseason, and the early returns are extremely promising.

During the preseason, Harper shot 8-of-14 from deep, with 35.8% of his field goal attempts coming from beyond the arc. As a rookie, only 27.3% of his shot attempts came from 3-point territory.

Oklahoma City has allowed the most 3-point attempts in the league to opposing guards 4 years in a row. If Harper has 5+ attempts on opening night, this is a tremendously +EV wager.
