Best NBA Player Props for Monday, January 12th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on Monday, January 12th:
- Derrick White Over/Under 5.5 Assists
- Joel Embiid Over/Under 29.5 Points + Assists
- Sam Merrill Over/Under 13.5 Points
Derrick White OVER 5.5 Assists (-145, BetMGM)
According to our RotoGrinders CourtIQ tool, White is averaging 6.9 assists per 36 minutes this season with Jaylen Brown off of the floor. In 2 games with Brown inactive, White has posted 9 assists against the Wizards and 7 assists against the Raptors. Tonight, he draws a favorable matchup against a Pacers defense that ranks 18th in assists allowed per game during their last 8 contests. White should have a good opportunity to collect 6+ assists again this evening.
Joel Embiid UNDER 29.5 Points + Assists (-122, DraftKings)
Embiid has been ramping up his workload in recent weeks, but it’s still far from a guarantee that he clears this number on Monday. Filtering for only games that Embiid has played 30+ minutes this season, he’s still only managed 30+ points and assists in 6 of 11 contests, including only 3 of 6 games on the road.
Toronto ranks 6th in the NBA in defensive rating across their last 8 games. They should be able to slow down Embiid.
Sam Merrill UNDER 13.5 Points (-119, DraftKings)
Merrill has cleared this number in all 4 games he’s played this season with Dean Wade inactive, but more context is needed. Only once in those 4 games has Merrill attempted more than 8 shots from the field.
Merrill has been unsustainably hot of late, shooting 57.5% from the field and 61.8% from 3-point territory in 4 games to begin January. There is real risk of negative regression in terms of efficiency this evening. There simply hasn’t been enough volume for him on a nightly basis to count on him for 14+ points.
