NBA Player Props Today – Monday, January 6, 2025
- P.J. Washington Over/Under 22.5 Points + Rebounds
- James Harden Over/Under 7.5 Assists
- Damian Lillard Over/Under 22.5 Points
P.J. Washington OVER 22.5 Points + Rebounds (-105, BetMGM)
According to CourtIQ, Washington is averaging 13.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per 30 minutes this season with both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving off of the floor. This would be a conservative projection for Washington, considering that he’s played 35 minutes, 38 minutes, and 31 minutes in 3 such games with both of the Mavericks’ stars inactive this season.
In those 3 games, Washington has yet to post fewer than 22 points + rebounds. Importantly, he’s taken at least 13 shot attempts and had at least 9 rebound chances in each of those games as well, indicating that he’s had stable volume in terms of opportunities. In the last 2 such games, Washington has shot only 8-for-20 and 6-for-18 from the floor, so there is also some room for positive regression in the scoring department.
This isn’t the most favorable matchup for Washington, but the Grizzlies have played at the quickest pace in the entire NBA across their last 8 games and have been close to the league average defensively in that span. He should have enough opportunities to make this a worthwhile risk.
James Harden OVER 7.5 Assists (+105, DraftKings)
In his first game of the season playing alongside Kawhi Leonard, Harden had 15 assists and a season-high 23 potential assists. Those numbers come with the caveat that he played a bottom-third Atlanta defense that has allowed the most assists of any team across their last 8 games, but his pass-first focus in the Clippers’ new lineup is still noteworthy.
Tonight, Harden has a tougher matchup on tap, facing a Minnesota team that has permitted the 4th-fewest assists to guards during their last 8 games. Still, they allowed 14 assists to Chris Paul, 8 assists to Jrue Holiday, and 9 assists to Cade Cunningham in that span. Paul and Cunningham each had 15+ potential assists.
This is good value on Harden to get 8 assists. It’s a tougher matchup, statistically speaking, but his alternate lines could be worthy of consideration as well.
Damian Lillard OVER 22.5 Points (-120, BetMGM)
The Raptors are a dream matchup for Lillard. Toronto owns the worst defensive rating in the NBA across their last 8 games, while playing at the league’s 7th-quickest pace. They have allowed the 3rd-most field goal attempts per game, including the 2nd-most shots per game from beyond the arc to guards in that span. The Raptors have also struggled to defend without fouling, sending guards to the free throw line more than any other team of late.
Lillard is in the midst of an abysmal shooting slump, making only 32.4% of his attempts across his last 4 games. The good news is that he’s still taking a lot of shots and getting to the free throw line at a respectable rate. Assuming a competitive game script, Lillard could be in for a big night.
