NBA Player Props Today – Wednesday, January 22, 2025

Donovan Mitchell UNDER 26.5 Points (-120, BetMGM)

Mitchell has scored 33+ points in 3 of 4 games he has played with Evan Mobley unavailable this season, but he could find it tough to continue that trend tonight, facing a tough Houston defense. Cade Cunningham exploded for 32 points against the Rockets earlier this week, but he and Ja Morant remain the only point guards to score more than 25 points against the Rockets since mid-December. Mitchell is likely to see a significant increase in volume with Mobley not on the floor, but his efficiency is likely to be the determining factor as to whether this play wins or loses. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him struggle, to some extent, in this spot.

Stephen Curry UNDER 4.5 Made 3-Pointers (-115, bet365)

The Warriors will be shorthanded again, with Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and Brandin Podziemski each ruled out. This is unlikely to be a good thing for Curry on the offensive end of the floor.

According to CourtIQ, Curry is averaging 26 points per 36 minutes this season with Green, Kuminga, and Podziemski off of the floor, but he’s shooting only 38.2% from the field and 35.3% from 3-point territory in those situations due to the increased defensive attention he ends up receiving. There is also a genuine risk of a blowout game script for Curry and company in these scenarios, as we saw earlier this week when they hosted the Celtics.

There are a number of ways in which Curry could stay under this number in this matchup.

James Harden UNDER 7.5 Assists (+115, bet365)

Ahead of tip-off, the Clippers have ruled out Kawhi Leonard, Norman Powell, and Ivica Zubac. According to CourtIQ, Harden is averaging only 5.2 assists per 36 minutes of action this season with each of those players off of the floor.

Tonight, Harden draws a tough matchup against a Boston team that ranks 4th in defensive rating across their last 8 games, and they have played at the 7th-slowest pace in the league. Harden had 10 assists in his first game this season with Zubac unavailable, but he notably only had 11 potential assists in that game. He could struggle to pile up assists tonight, facing a strong defensive opponent without some of his most reliable shot-makers by his side.
