Following an entertaining opening night of NBA action, most of the rest of the league will play their first game of the new campaign on Wednesday as part of a 12-game slate. The Cavaliers and Knicks are the headliner of this evening’s matchups, with the two Eastern Conference front-runners scheduled for tip-off at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
The first large slate of the new season also means that bettors will have to dig into the NBA injury report in great detail for the first time this year. There are a number of notable names who will be out of commission tonight, including Darius Garland, Tyler Herro, Paul George, and more.

Best NBA Player Props for Wednesday, October 22nd
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM ET on Wednesday, October 22nd:
- Khris Middleton Over/Under 21.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
- Tre Jones Over/Under 14.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
- John Konchar Over/Under 10.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
Khris Middleton OVER 21.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-110, bet365)
After getting traded to the Wizards last season, Middleton averaged only 10.7 points in 22.1 minutes per game on 41.3% shooting from the field. It goes without saying that neither Middleton nor the Wizards had much interest in leveraging his talents on the court down the stretch last season. Middleton was likely emotionally deflated after getting traded away from Milwaukee – an organization he had played for since 2013. Washington was prioritizing their chances in the draft lottery and not winning games down the stretch.
Fast forward to opening night this season, and it’s likely to be a slightly different story. Middleton is still a 34-year-old player who has suffered some notable injuries in recent years. The good news is that this is likely going to be the healthiest version of Middleton we see all season.
In each of his 2 preseason games, Middleton played 24 minutes, which should translate to closer to 30 minutes in the regular season. If that is the case, this number is simply too low for a player who is capable of filling up the stat sheet in numerous ways. It wouldn’t be shocking to see Middleton clear this number with points alone, but he’s also a solid rebounder and more than willing to facilitate.
Tre Jones OVER 14.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115, bet365)
This is a bit of a speculative play given that nobody definitively knows how Billy Donovan plans to distribute minutes for the Bulls to open the season. That being said, Jones likely did enough to warrant a decent amount of playing time on opening night after a strong preseason.
In the team’s final 3 tune-up games, Jones averaged 8.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.7 assists, playing 24 minutes in each of those contests. Donovan has preached matchup flexibility and alluded to needing to rely on players beyond those in the starting five to open the year, especially with Coby White and Zach Collins on the mend.
Jones is a high-intensity player who likely sees more than 25 minutes this evening if he shows up reasonably well early in the game.
John Konchar UNDER 10.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-125, bet365)
During the preseason, even with Memphis not playing most of their starters, Konchar wasn’t a significant part of the team’s rotation. In 5 preseason contests, he never played more than 18 minutes. In 4 of those games, he totaled 8 or fewer points + rebounds + assists (PRA).
On Wednesday, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Konchar play only around 10 minutes. If that’s the case, this is simply too high of a number for a role player on a team that has plenty of talent on the roster.
