Tonight, Victor Wembanyama will make his NBA regular season debut when the San Antonio Spurs host the Dallas Mavericks at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. There are 11 other games on the slate as well, with the majority of the league playing their first game of the 2023-2024 season tonight.

Wembanyama Over/Under 24.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
The preseason is a different beast than the regular season, but it is still worth noting that Victor Wembanyama averaged 19.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in only 21 minutes per game in four tune-up contests. Though San Antonio figures to be cautious with Wembanyama and his workload during his rookie campaign, the per-minute production he has the potential to offer makes this market number worth attacking on opening night. The Mavericks have only one player in their projected starting lineup taller than 6’7’’. Wembanyama is 7’3’’ and will be the tallest player on the floor this evening. It should be a productive debut for Wembanyama tonight in a favorable matchup.

Johnson Over/Under 20.5 Points
Keldon Johnson averaged 22.0 points per game last season, but he shot only 45.2% from the field, 32.9% from deep, and 74.9% from the charity stripe. Simply, he was not very efficient. Instead, Johnson was a primary playmaker and scorer for a team that had minimal talent on the floor each night. Heading into the new campaign, Johnson will be joined by top overall draft pick Victor Wembanyama, who figures to immediately assert himself as one of the top options for the Spurs on the offensive end of the floor. Johnson could see his numbers take a step backward this year, beginning tonight in what could be a low-scoring affair against the Mavericks.

Mobley More/Less Than 15.5 Points
Last season, many pundits expected Evan Mobley to take a seismic step forward in terms of production. Mobley ended up only modestly increasing his numbers, averaging 16.2 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Still, he averaged greater than this market number. Entering his third season, Mobley could finally be ready for a breakout campaign. Early in the season, he will have the benefit of playing without Jarrett Allen as well, which could further increase usage and shot attempts for Mobley. This appears to be a worthwhile risk for Wednesday’s slate.
