NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions for Friday (1/17)

Davis of the Lakers

I’m here to share a few of my (free!) top picks for today’s NBA slate on PrizePicks. Most of these predictions are heavily based on our projections.

Be mindful of the fact that the news cycle in the NBA is fluid, so the picks below may become more or less appealing depending on player availability. But rest assured that our NBA DFS projections team is making updates as soon as news breaks.

We have 9 games on the schedule as the NBA is set to tip off on 1/17. Below, I’ll detail how I’m approaching things on PrizePicks this Friday evening.

If you want to play along but haven’t signed up yet, grab a special offer with our PrizePicks promo code “GRINDERS” to get $50 on a $5 entry! PrizePicks – one of the most popular DFS pick’em sites – provides player projections for NBA matchups each day. The ball is then in our court to decide whether a player will ultimately exceed or fall short of those projections in the games. With a huge roster of players available from which to choose, we just need to make a minimum of two picks to build an entry.

I’ll break down the board by looking at factors like usage rates, projected pace, lines in the sports betting market, and of course, our RotoGrinders projections to forecast how NBA players might fare in categories like points, rebounds, and assists. Nets vs. Lakers NBA PrizePicks Predictions

Here are the Nets vs. Lakers NBA PrizePicks predictions for tonight:

Anthony Davis Less Than 16.5 Rebounds + Assists

RotoGrinders projects him at 14.85 rebounds + assists, well below the 16.5 mark. Their simulations back this up with a 5.85% edge and a 63.58% hit rate, making this a statistically favorable choice. These projections align with Davis’ trends of averaging 15.33 rebounds and assists this season, suggesting he’s more likely to stay under this mark.

Raptors vs. Bucks NBA PrizePicks Predictions

Here are the Raptors vs. Bucks NBA PrizePicks predictions for tonight:

Jakob Poeltl Less Than 12.5 Rebounds + Assists

RotoGrinders projects him at 11.61 rebounds and assists, with simulations showing a 4.05% edge and a 61.79% hit rate. While Poeltl averages 13.3 combined rebounds and assists this season, Milwaukee’s strong defense (8th in defensive rating) and his recent road struggles suggest a dip in production. Our Defense vs. Archetypes Tool also has the as a below-average matchup for post players for both rebounds and assists.

These factors, combined with the statistical edge, make this a compelling choice for tonight’s game.

Thunder vs. Mavericks NBA PrizePicks Predictions

Here are the Thunder vs. Mavericks NBA PrizePicks predictions for tonight:

Jaylin Williams More Than 8.5 Rebounds + Assists

RotoGrinders projects him at 10.04 rebounds and assists, which is above the threshold. Additionally, their simulations show this pick has a 3.83% edge and a 61.56% hit rate, indicating a favorable probability of success. Williams has been a consistent contributor in his role, and his recent performances suggest he can exceed this mark.

It also doesn’t hurt that our Defense vs. Archetypes Tool has this as the second-best matchup on the board for centers. Centers perform well above average in both rebounds and assists vs. the Mavericks.
