NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions for Thursday (1/30)
I’m here to share a few of my (free!) top picks for today’s NBA slate on PrizePicks. Most of these predictions are heavily based on our projections.
Be mindful of the fact that the news cycle in the NBA is fluid, so the picks below may become more or less appealing depending on player availability. But rest assured that our NBA DFS projections team is making updates as soon as news breaks.
We have 5 games on the schedule as the NBA is set to tip off on 1/30. Below, I’ll detail how I’m approaching things on PrizePicks this Thursday evening.

If you want to play along but haven’t signed up yet, grab a special offer with our PrizePicks promo code “GRINDERS” to get $50 on a $5 entry! PrizePicks – one of the most popular DFS pick’em sites – provides player projections for NBA matchups each day. The ball is then in our court to decide whether a player will ultimately exceed or fall short of those projections in the games. With a huge roster of players available from which to choose, we just need to make a minimum of two picks to build an entry.
I’ll break down the board by looking at factors like usage rates, projected pace, lines in the sports betting market, and of course, our RotoGrinders projections to forecast how NBA players might fare in categories like points, rebounds, and assists. PrizePicks Top NBA Picks for 1/30
Now that you’re signed up, here are some of our top NBA picks on PrizePicks for 1/30 at a glance:
- John Collins More/Less Than 7.5 Rebounds
- Jarrett Allen More/Less Than 13.5 Points
- Onyeka Okongwu More/Less Than 9.5 Rebounds
Timberwolves vs. Jazz NBA PrizePicks Predictions
Here are the Timberwolves vs. Jazz NBA PrizePicks predictions for tonight:
John Collins Less Than 7.5 Rebounds
Collins achieving less than 7.5 rebounds is a strong pick for several reasons. First, we project him to grab 6.82 rebounds, which is below the threshold. Additionally, our simulations show this pick has a 2.62% edge and a 60.35% hit rate, indicating a favorable probability.
While Collins has averaged 7.6 rebounds over his last 10 games, his performance has been inconsistent, with a 50% hit rate for more than 7.5 rebounds in that span. With both Walker Kessler and Lauri Markkanen available to play tonight, I think Collins will fall short of 8 rebounds.
Hawks vs. Cavaliers NBA PrizePicks Predictions
Here are the Hawks vs. Cavaliers NBA PrizePicks predictions for tonight:
Jarrett Allen More Than 13.5 Points
Allen scoring more than 13.5 points is a solid pick for a few reasons. To begin with, we project him to score 15.82 points, which is comfortably above this PrizePicks projection. Our simulations also show this pick has a 1.5% edge and a 59.24% hit rate, indicating a favorable probability.
Allen has averaged 13.8 points this season and 15.07 points over his last 15 games, showing an upward trend in scoring. Additionally, Atlanta’s defense against centers is slightly below average, with a 2.21% defensive value over replacement (DVP), which could create more scoring opportunities for Allen.
Onyeka Okongwu Less Than 9.5 Rebounds
Okongwu achieving less than 9.5 rebounds is another strong pick. We project him to grab 8.57 rebounds, which is basically a full rebound below the PrizePicks projection. Our simulations also show this pick has a 1.49% edge and a 59.22% hit rate, indicating a favorable probability.
Okongwu has averaged 7.7 rebounds this season in 24.7 minutes. And even though he has been seeing more minutes lately, tonight’s matchup is difficult, as the Cavs rank among the league’s best in rebounding.
