NBA Underdog Fantasy Player Predictions for Monday (12/2)

Reid of the Timberwolves

I’m here to give you a (free!) peek behind the curtain regarding some of the awesome things our NBA DFS projections team is cooking up by giving you my top picks for today’s NBA slate on Underdog Fantasy. Every single pick you will find below is going to be based on what our projections say is a meaningful edge, and I will then use my basketball and analytical background to try to pinpoint the very best of the best. Please keep in mind that the NBA news cycle can get crazy, so what is listed below may become a better/worse play depending on how that news breaks. You can always stay up to date on exactly what a team’s rotation and depth chart will look like on a given day by heading to our NBA starting lineups page.

We have 4 games on the schedule as the NBA is set to tip off on 12/2. Below, I’ll detail how I’m approaching things on Underdog this Monday evening.

Underdog Fantasy – one of the most popular DFS pick’em sites – provides player projections for NBA matchups each day. The ball is then in our court to decide whether a player will ultimately exceed or fall short of those projections in the games. With a huge roster of players available from which to choose, we just need to make a minimum of two picks to build an entry.

I’ll break down the board by looking at factors like usage rates, projected pace, lines in the sports betting market, and of course, our RotoGrinders projections to forecast how NBA players might fare in categories like points, rebounds, and assists. Underdog Fantasy Top NBA Picks for 12/2

Now that you’re signed up, here are some of our top NBA picks on Underdog for 12/2 at a glance:

Lakers vs. Timberwolves NBA Underdog Fantasy Predictions

Here are the Lakers vs. Timberwolves NBA Underdog Fantasy predictions for tonight:

Naz Reid Higher Than 11.5 Points + Assists

Looking for Reid to outperform his points + assists projection on Underdog looks like a solid play according to our projections team. Noted for his offensive versatility, Reid tends to capitalize on matchups against teams with porous defenses.

Even though we can’t normally expect much from Reid in the assists department, he could get us where we need to be on points alone. Coupling his current form with an impressive win percentage (63.33%) and a favorable edge (5.59%), this is one of my favorite picks of the slate.

Heat vs. Celtics NBA Underdog Fantasy Predictions

Here are the Heat vs. Celtics NBA Underdog Fantasy predictions for tonight:

Jimmy Butler Higher Than 17.5 Points

Even though Tyler Herro now easily leads the Heat in points per game (24.0), Butler continues to be a pivotal player for the Miami Heat, especially in huge games like we will see tonight against Boston. Despite Miami having to face a tough opponent tonight, Butler has historically shown that he is matchup-proof.

With a Win Percentage of 62.25% and an edge of 4.51%, banking on Butler to surpass 17 points is something I want to add to my Underdog card. It is anecdotal to be sure, but he always seems to show up in these big games.

Pelicans vs. Hawks NBA Underdog Fantasy Predictions

Here are the Pelicans vs. Hawks NBA Underdog Fantasy predictions for tonight:

Clint Capela Higher Than 10.5 Points + Assists

Considering Capela has 28 assists in 21 games, this is really a play on him beating this Underdog projection on just points, which he can of course do despite his lowest points per game average (10.7) since the 2015-16 season. The Pelicans are getting healthier, but they are still extremely thin in the frontcourt.

Given a win percentage of 61.52% and an edge of 3.79%, this pick stands out as a valuable addition to an Underdog slip.
