2022 New York Jets Odds, Schedule, & Fantasy Football Team Preview
Everyone is gearing up for the start of the NFL season, especially fans of teams that have a little hope after years of rebuilding.
I can hear the chants now: “J-E-T-S Jets! Jets! Jets!”
There is certainly a lot more optimism for the Jets heading into this season, especially from a fantasy perspective. Zach Wilson is looking to take a leap forward in his sophomore season and the organization has done a nice job of surrounding him with weapons. This team has been in the dumps of the AFC East for a long time, so contending for a playoff spot would be a huge win for the franchise. However, there are plenty of questions that need to be answered:
- Can second-year coach Robert Saleh get this team trending in the right direction?
- Will the offense be able to score enough points to keep the team competitive?
- Can Wilson focus less on his mom’s friends and more on football? (I’m sorry, I had to)

2022 New York Jets Schedule, Lines, and Best Bets
Projected Odds, derived & modified from data originally published by Sean Koerner here.
Win Total and Total Games Favored:
5.5 (-165) / 3 Games Favored ( 0 Big Favorites / 6 Big Dogs)
The Jets have a brutal schedule to start the season — they host the Ravens in Week 1, they take on the Browns on the road in Week 2, and then they host the Bengals in Week 3. On top of that, they play in one of the best divisions in football. The Bills are the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl, the Dolphins are hoping to make big strides after an overhaul in the offseason, and the Patriots are always good. While the Jets may get off to a slow start, there are certainly some positives. They have one of the easiest schedules of any team in the league and the tough opening stretch could lead to a more battle-tested team.
The Jets are only favored in three games, but it wouldn’t take much for them to hit their win total of 5.5 (which is juiced heavily on the over). This team won four games last year and should be markedly better on both ends of the ball.
Favorite Bet: Under 2 Division Wins // -115 on DraftKings
While I am perfectly fine betting the over on the Jets win total for the season, I’m not sure how many of those are going to come from their division. The Bills seem to get better every year and brought in a key playmaker on defense in Von Miller, the Patriots should be better offensively with Mac Jones in his second season, and the Dolphins are one of the more intriguing teams in the league. I have a hard time seeing the Jets beating the Bills and a split against the Patriots and Dolphins seems like the best-case scenario for New York.

Favorite Prop: Zach Wilson over 3,750 passing yards
Health is always the biggest factor when betting on a season-long prop like this one, but Wilson should be able to hit this with ease if he can stay healthy. If he manages to suit up for all 17 games, he only needs to throw for a meager 221 yards per game. Elijah Moore could be a budding superstar, Corey Davis is an excellent possession receiver, and the Jets used the 10th overall pick on Garrett Wilson. The offensive line is still a concern, but Wilson is mobile and will likely have many pass-heavy game scripts this season, as the Jets are currently underdogs in 14 of their 17 games.

Make no mistake about it — the Jets were one of the worst teams in football last season. They couldn’t move the ball consistently and they had one of the worst defenses in the league. However, I’m sipping the green Kool-Aid this offense. On a per-dollar basis, the Jets could be one of the most fantasy-friendly offenses to target in season-long, best ball, DFS, and prop bets. Wilson and Saleh are looking to make strides in their second seasons, the receiving corps has plenty of weapons, and this is the most talented backfield we’ve seen on the Jets in a long time.
The main interest lies in the passing game. We’ve seen flashes of brilliance from Wilson and this should be a fairly concentrated passing attack. I am certainly looking forward to building some single and double stacks with Wilson and his three main wideouts — Moore, Wilson, and Davis. The backfield will likely start as a committee, as the Jets used a second-round pick on Breece Hall. We likely won’t see a workhorse situation unless Hall or Michael Carter end up getting injured. Fantasy production has been a barren wasteland for tight ends on the Jets, but that could change this season after signing C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin.

Departures of Note: Jamison Crowder WR
The Jets made most of their offseason noise in the draft. In the first two rounds alone, they drafted a receiver, a running back, a cornerback, and a defensive end. This should help on both ends of the ball. It gives Wilson two more weapons at his disposal on offense and it gives the defense a better chance at slowing down opposing offenses. The Jets are hoping Ahmad Gardner will be a shut-down cornerback and Jermaine Johnson should help the team’s pass rush. Additionally, Carl Lawson is set to make his Jets debut after missing his entire first season in New York with a torn Achilles.
Ultimately, there’s a lot of potential on this team when it comes to fantasy football. All of that rests on the shoulders of Zach Wilson, who could be poised for a breakout season. His range of outcomes is quite wide (he does still play for the Jets), but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a quarterback with more upside than Wilson at his current price. The easiest wideout to pair Wilson with is Elijah Moore. He commanded a 19% target share in 2021 and flashed serious upside when the Jets got the ball in his hands. There are concerns that the Jets will use more 12-personnel after signing two tight ends, but I like betting on talent in an improving offense. Breece Hall seems to check all the boxes of what we are looking for in an NFL running back, but his workload is a big question mark right out of the gate.
