NFL DFS Air Yards Report: Reviewing Week 9
Air Yards is a statistic we use in NFL DFS to identify the quality of a player’s opportunity. When we can find players who have greater opportunity than their recent production shows, we can often benefit in our lineup choices on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo. In this article, we’ll open the RotoGrinders Usage App from JoshADHD and discover a few key air yards trends from recent weeks. We’ll look for players who have strong share of their team opportunity, but production that lags behind. We should be able to make better projections and find high upside at lower than expected projected ownership if we identify these players properly.

Today’s NFL DFS Air Yards Report
Jerry Jeudy

NFL Team: Denver Broncos
Position: WR
Share of Team Air Yards: 48%
Air Yards: 237
Air Conversion (RACR): 0.53
Jerry Jeudy headlined Week last week’s Air Yards Report and the rookie didn’t disappoint, posting a 1-125-1 line against the Atlanta Falcons. Jeudy led all players with 237 air yards in Week 9 and was targeted a team-high 14 times. That’s two straight games of double-digit targets for Jeudy who received a lot of attention from Drew Lock even with Tim Patrick back from injury. While DraftKings ($5,600) did a good job of pricing Jeudy up, his FanDuel ($5,800) price tag is lagging behind a bit which makes him a better target there in a Week 10 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Jakobi Meyers

NFL Team: New England Patriots
Position: WR
Share of Team Air Yards: 64%
Air Yards: 187
Air Conversion (RACR): 0.90
New England remains a run-first team but when Cam Newton does drop back to pass, you can be sure he’ll be looking in Jakobi Meyers direction. Meyers accounted for 14-of-34 New England targets in Monday night’s victory over the Jets, catching 12 of them for 169-yards. Meyers saw an even bigger share of the team’s air yards (64%) and is the only New England pass-catcher that is a viable fantasy option on a weekly basis. Week 10’s matchup against the Ravens is far from favorable but Meyers is still a volume-driven fantasy option.
DJ Chark

NFL Team: Jacksonville Jaguars
Position: WR
Share of Team Air Yards: 51%
Air Yards: 173
Air Conversion (RACR): 0.84
Believe it or not, DJ Chark didn’t see some huge change in opportunity with Jake Luton making his first start under center for the Jaguars, he just finally hit on a big play. Luton connected with Chark for a 73-yard touchdown on Jacksonville’s first series of the game and then doubled his receiving production over the remaining 3.75 quarters. There’s a chance that Chark could wind up being more efficient with Luton at quarterback and he should continue to see plenty of opportunity with the Jaguars offense playing from behind the majority of the time they take the field.
