Hittin' The Nuts - Squirrelpatrol's Top Stacks: Week 6

HittinTheNuts

Want to hit the nuts and take down 1st place in these massive contests posted by FanDuel and DraftKings? Who better to walk you through their favorite NFL DFS stacks than Squirrelpatrol! Undoubtedly one of the best DFS players in the game today, Squirrelpatrol has accumulated 90+ Live Final seats, taking 2nd place in the 2023 DraftKings Fantasy Baseball World Championship for a $600,000 prize, and most recently, he took down the Milly Maker on the Week 2 MNF 2-game slate. Should we roster the chalk stack? How off-the-board should we get in large-field tournaments? Squirrelpatrol answers all of these questions and more below!

As DFS strategies get more advanced, moving from hunch-based decision-making to play-by-play simulations meant to measure how often certain players or stacks appear in the optimal lineup, it’s important to pair both quantitative and qualitative analysis when putting together our NFL DFS lineups. Each week, I’ll be taking a look at our Optimal Stack Tool for both FanDuel and DraftKings and giving some thoughts on what the best NFL DFS stacks will be for different contest types and sizes.

Chalk Stack – Matthew Stafford vs Arizona Cardinals

The highest-owned QB on both FanDuel and DraftKings this week according to our projections will be Matthew Stafford facing the Cardinals at home in Los Angeles. Stafford has a number of factors working in his favor this week, and despite his projection as the highest owned QB, our Optimal Stacks Tool is showing that Stafford is still under-owned at 11.7% ownership on DraftKings (12.39% optimal rate) and 13.9% ownership on FanDuel (14.89% optimal rate).

Stafford is playing at home in Los Angeles as a 7-point favorite in the game with the highest point total of the week against an Arizona pass defense that just gave up 317 passing yards and 3 touchdowns to Joe Burrow. He has only seen his price creep up a few hundred dollars since the beginning of the year, despite throwing for at least 222 passing yards in every game and exceeding 300 yards in three of his five games, the first four of which were played without his top target Cooper Kupp. The Rams have the second-highest implied point total on the slate, but Stafford is just the 8th-highest priced QB on both FanDuel and DraftKings. I won’t look to be dramatically over the field on Stafford, but I think his ownership is justified, and he’ll be one of my highest-owned QBs in all formats.

When using Stafford in a stack this week, I like the idea of making it a double stack with multiple receivers in tournaments and even game stacking him if I can find the right piece from the Arizona side. Kupp is the natural stacking partner for Stafford and will likely be the highest-owned player in Stafford lineups – but if you add Puka Nacua, Tutu Atwell, or Tyler Higbee, you’ll add some nice correlated differentiation to your lineup. Arizona run-backs could also bring some correlated value- looking at Zach Ertz at tight end or Emari Demercado as a value running back.
