What is your favorite game-script build and why?
Notorious: My favorite game script is the Lions building a lead early and forcing the Niners to air it out. Unfortunately, this game doesn’t mean anything for either team. The Lions will have the #1 seed in the NFC up for grabs next week, while the Niners have been eliminated from playoff contention. I know what I would do if I coached the Lions, but that’s not Dan Campbell’s style. He’ll want to win this game. My favorite spends are Jahmyr Gibbs and the passing attack for the Niners.
headChopper: I like the 49ers to win this game. Their defense remains formidable, and they should be able to move the ball effectively against the Lions. With this game being virtually meaningless for Detroit, I wonder if Dan Campbell learned his lesson from last season when Sam LaPorta got hurt in a similar situation, potentially leading him to pull back on his starters’ workload. While hard to quantify, I think it plays a role.
ncorfield8k: I think it will be a competitive game throughout. The 49ers will be throwing, and the Lions will be doing whatever they want, as usual. I am not confident it will happen, but I like the idea of building for the potential that while they are playing to win, Dan Campbell uses the starters just a little bit less than usual. I particularly think this could be the case for Craig Reynolds spelling Jahmyr Gibbs a bit more than usual.
Davis Mattek: Dan Campbell has said that the Lions are treating this game like any other, and I believe him. The 49ers are limping to the finish of a busted season and have nothing left to play for other than not getting injured. I do wonder if the Lions’ starters get pulled earlier in the 2nd half than they normally would, but I anticipate the Lions playing downhill.
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
