What is your favorite game-script build and why?
Notorious: The Chiefs are without two of their best playmakers (Rashee Rice and Isiah Pacheco). They have also struggled in pass protection this season. Patrick Mahomes has fewer than 30 pass attempts in 3 of their 4 games. As home favorites, I expect them to lean heavily on their ground game. I like the idea of getting overweight on the likes of Kareem Hunt, Harrison Butker, and the Chiefs D/ST. With New Orleans having such a concentrated offense, it’s easy to round out lineups with Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave, or Rashid Shaheed.
headChopper: I think it’s going to be a slow, methodical game where both offenses are in no rush and don’t find a lot of consistent success. These are two solid defenses, and don’t look now, but the Chiefs are actually kind of boring. The lack of receiving weapons and a shift in philosophy over the years has made them very pedestrian in terms of excitement. I’m leaning toward a slow game with good efficiency on offense and strong red-zone defense as the game script.
ncorfield8k: The Chiefs dominate both on the field and in winning lineups. While both defenses are very good, the Chiefs offense is more likely to overcome a tough defense, especially with this game being in Kansas City. While the Saints have more big-name targets, this could be a game where the big names all disappoint and are outscored by some value plays.
Davis Mattek: I wish that I could tell you that Patrick Mahomes was going to turn back the clock and put on a vintage Chiefs show, but it isn’t happening. The Chiefs are dead last in the NFL in aDOT, and the Saints are a bottom-3 team in pass rate over expected (PROE). The Saints offense is fun when they do pass, but they are part of the Shanahan tree. They run early and often. I will be playing this like it goes under the total in a narrow and boring Chiefs win.
