NFL DFS Showdown Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Sunday Night Football

What is your favorite game-script build and why?

squirrelpatrol: I think San Francisco is the much better team, but I expect both passing games to put up good numbers. Detroit allowed the 4th-most passing yards per game this season, and San Francisco allowed the 3rd-most receptions per game. San Francisco should win this one, but it might be more of a Brock Purdy game than a Christian McCaffrey game.

Notorious: I am hoping this is the Jahmyr Gibbs breakout game. He has multiple paths to success, which is always nice. The best way to beat the Niners is on the ground, and I expect Detroit to run the ball early. However, there’s a decent chance the Niners will build a lead and force the Lions to air it out more. If that happens, we should see a lot more Gibbs than David Montgomery. This is more me pointing out a game-script player than saying my favorite game script, but it’s a way for me to talk about one of my favorite plays on the slate.

TastefulTides: It’s no secret that the Lions defense is elite at stopping the run and absolutely atrocious at stopping the pass. The San Francisco pass attack should take full advantage of this. Whether it be dump offs to Christian McCaffrey or big air yardage attempts to Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, or George Kittle, the 49ers pass attack should have their way. The Lions will need to lean heavily on Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs in what will likely be a negative game script.

TJ Zwarych: I think the clock will strike midnight early on for the Lions, and their Cinderella season will be coming to a close. The 49ers are just too good of a team, and I expect them to come out firing early and often, with the Lions having to play catch-up the entire game.

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large field, single entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
