Noto's Key Personnel: Week 8
A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. So, who better to walk you through all of the key NFL DFS positions each week? Noto has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career, and he will mix it up in all different types of contests. In his Key Personnel article, he will walk you through his favorite NFL DFS picks, ways to pivot away from the chalk, and overall strategy for the upcoming slate.
The only introduction that I have for you this week is to check out our NBA premium content. The projections team has been absolutely crushing it the first week of the season and we have plenty of content to keep you on top of each slate. The best part is that all of the content this year is updated through lineup lock. You won’t find any stale NBA DFS advice here.
As far as NFL is concerned, we don’t have any byes or any games in London this week, which means there are 13 games on the main slate. This means more options for DFS and more ways to attack lineup construction. There aren’t a ton of injuries that we are still waiting on, but any changes to my thoughts will be reflected in my CVR and LineupHQ tags.
NFL DFS Top Picks & Plays: Noto’s Key Personnel for Week 8
Quarterback
EXPERT PLAY TAGS
Lamar Jackson: $8,100 DK / $8,800 FD
Sam Darnold: $4,200 DK
Tua Tagovailoa: $8,200 FD
This is one of those weeks where you can feel good about targeting the super cheap and the super expensive options at quarterback. In lineups where you have extra salary to spend, I love starting them with Lamar Jackson. Through seven games, he has averaged 51 rushing yards and has already scored five times on the ground. After underwhelming through the air in the first six games, he threw for 357 yards and three touchdowns against the Lions last week. It could have been a lot more if the game wasn’t out of hand by halftime. This week he squares off against the Cardinals (indoors), who are ranked 31st in DVOA against the pass and 28th in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks.
The way lineup construction works on each site, I only look to punt quarterback on DraftKings. I can generally find enough salary on FanDuel to spend up at the position. If you are looking to load up at the skill positions, Sam Darnold is only $4,200 on DraftKings and will draw the start for the Niners. This will be a good litmus test of whether Brock Purdy is really good or whether the system is really what is making him shine. Darnold has been a decent value in DFS over the years and offers a little bit of rushing upside. He’s playing at home, he has plenty of weapons to work with, and the Bengals aren’t too imposing of a matchup. Using Darnold is really about what he allows you to do with the rest of your roster.
The other play that I wanted to highlight on FanDuel is Tua Tagovailoa. He seems to crush on a weekly basis, yet he rarely garners much ownership in DFS. I’m not sure why this is the case, perhaps because he doesn’t offer as much rushing upside as many quarterbacks. Either way, we should view the low ownership as a positive. He has thrown for multiple touchdown passes four times this season, he has an obvious stacking mate in Tyreek Hill, and he draws a nice matchup against the Patriots.
