NFL DFS Usage Trends: 2020 Season Preview

This week, we’ll go team-by-team, discussing how their changes affect their volume for the purposes of NFL DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel. In future weeks, we’ll look at how touches, targets, and snap count volume will affect the coming week.

Arizona Cardinals

DeAndre Hopkins is one of the biggest DFS names to change teams this offseason. To judge whether or not much changes in his usage and efficacy, we can look to his quarterbacks. Deshaun Watson is obviously the better quarterback than Kyler Murray, but their adjusted completion rates per PFF are very similar. Arizona also has a better offensive line and Murray has the extra time under his belt, so caving under pressure isn’t much of a concern. Murray’s performance on the deep ball could use improvement, but Hopkins isn’t dependent on the deep pall; he’s a volume guy—you know it’s going there and he still gets open enough to get it.
