NFL Playoffs Weather Report - Divisional Round: Betting and Fantasy Football Impact

lamar-jackson-800x480

The Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs looks a bit better than what we saw over Wild Card Weekend, but there are still some bitterly cold and breezy conditions to monitor.

This NFL weather article will highlight any extreme temperatures, precipitation, and, most importantly, high winds that we could see across the NFL landscape this week.

If a game isn’t specifically listed in this week’s report, that means the weather is quiet enough for it not to be an issue in that particular game.

NFL Divisional Round Weekend Weather Report & Forecast

As always, it’s best to stay up to date with the very latest forecasts, so follow me on Twitter @KevinRothWx and keep an eye on my NFL weather page.

A reminder that while temperature and rain/snow can impact a game, the greatest impact by far comes from high-wind games, so I’ll be looking to highlight those spots when possible.

Saturday

Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens – This may be the worst weather game of the weekend. Temperatures will be a few degrees below freezing with a 15 mph sustained wind gusting to 30 mph. That’s not “we can’t throw it” territory, but the combination of the cold and occasional gusty wind could impact some deeper throws and longer FGs.

Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers – There’s a chance of some rain here, but we’ll need to monitor that closer to game day when the forecast becomes clearer on the timing of any potential rain. For now, I’m not overly worried.

Sunday

Tampa Bay Bucs at Detroit Lions – Game indoors.

Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills – It’s not ideal, but there is manageable cold and wind. The temperature should be around 20 degrees with a 10-15 mph wind gusting around 20 mph. The feels-like temp will be around 0 degrees, but these are similar conditions to what we saw in Buffalo for the Wild Card Round, and the weather didn’t seem to have a huge impact there.

Weather Impact on Fantasy & Betting

Both the Baltimore and the Buffalo games are cold with a little wind, and while neither is ideal, both look to be “good enough” not to see any major impacts. Of the two, I’m more concerned with Baltimore, as those winds could come in a bit stronger. We could also see some rain in San Francisco, but that’s likely a “won’t really know until game day” type forecast.

In case things change, I’ll be posting radar gifs to Twitter as we get closer to kickoff, @KevinRothWx on Twitter.
